Product Description

This Vestil welded steel floor jack post (also called a basement floor jack) has a red oxide coating, a screw and turning bar, and dual-lock pins, and it extends telescopically for temporarily leveling, bracing, and stabilizing floor beams and joists during construction or repairs. The floor jack post can be adjusted and set to any height within the given range, allowing it to be used in applications with different height requirements. Welded steel provides strength. A turning bar and screw bolt are used to adjust the floor jack post's height, and two dual-lock pins secure the floor jack post at the desired height. The floor jack post has a diameter of 3". Both end plates are pre-drilled and measure 3-1/2 x 6 inches. The floor jack post should be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing, with either end up.

Basement floor jacks, or jack posts, temporarily secure floor beams and joists in construction and industrial applications; they should not be used as permanent supports in new construction. Floor jack posts are typically made of steel for strength. They consist of an adjustable post and two end plates. The height of a floor jack post is adjusted using a screw and the post is held at the desired height with a series of pins. The bottom end plate must be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing. Bolts must be used to secure each end plate to the structure the post is supporting, and a floor jack post's end plates may or may not have pre-drilled holes for these bolts.

Initially, the wrong jack was shipped. I received the FJB-16 instead of the FJB-36. It is a much smaller jack. It looked to me that the packaging from the manufacturer was mislabeled, therefore not an Amazon issue. However, after contacting Amazon, they promptly correct the problem by shipping the correct jack at no extra charge. BTW, it is an excellent product. It is sturdy and easy to use. I would give 5 stars except for the inconvenience of having the wrong product shipped.

We used 5 of these to sure up a 1915 Porch Base on a House and it far exceeded our expectations...unit bases are one solid part and not in 3pcs as some other cheaper ones are...they worked well!

They will surely outlast the Crooked Granite that was holding porch up...we put these directly behind each Granite post...
they cannot be seen and still looks period...Great Deal...and the Big Box Store did not carry this particular one.
So of course Amazon was the best way to get them..and fast!

This house jack is very easy to use and to make adjustments. This house jack is not as sturdy as other jacks but it gets the job done.

They are doing the job I needed them to do. Slowly leveling off my wrap-around (the house) deck to replace pillar blocks.

4-stars because after I purchased these, found a local dist. who sells them for 27.00 ea. lower. Bought 5 from them in addition to the 6, I bought here. (Also received (1) from Amazon that had a damaged support plate. Still works but...)

I needed a short floor jack to temporarily raise and support the corner of my 16x18 deck so I can replace a post. This jack worked quite well. As I was getting ready to use it, knowing that it would be in place a couple of months, I went and got my lithium grease both to make it easier to raise and to protect it. Lo and behold, it was already nicely lubricated. It seems well made and very sturdy. well worth the cost.

These posts are fine for taking the bounce out of existing floor joists, providing they are of the proper height. Be sure to measure the space from the finished base (concrete footing or appropriate solid landing) before ordering. The posts can be adjusted in approximately 6" increments and then the remaining smaller distances adjusted using the screw at the top. The posts are heavy-enough gage steel to hold their advertised weight capacities, but they are not designed for permanent floor supports like piers on a home. Be sure and check your local building codes before installing to make sure they are a good fit for what your are doing. They are painted with a nice enamel coating and the screws are lubricated, but screws can rust over time if exposed to heavy moisture. I have used about nine of these without problems. I used a hydraulic jack to do most of the heavy lifting and then lower the jacked floor joists down to the posts. It's easier than using the bars that come with the jacks to lift the joists. Jacks come with two adjustment pins and a bar to turn the screw.
