I think that the book Vet on Call is a great book. I am interested in a masters degree in Veteranary Medicine. This book gives some great background information about dogs. Also, for dog owners interested in taking good care of their dogs would want to read this book. It has great illustrations and pictures of animals and how to take care of them using home remidies. This book covers many subjects such as allergies, anal sac problemsm, bad breath, bleeding, constipationm coughing, dental problems, diarrhea, drooling, eye problems, ear problms, flatulence, fleas, heartworm, heat stroke, hot spots, poisening, sunburnm urinary track problems, vomiting, aging, bladder control problems, heart desiase, overweight, aggression, seperation anxiety, and much, MUCH MORE!!! I really recomend this book! It is a starting block for those kids who wish to be a vet when they grow up

I have found this book to be most helpful. It is easy to read and full of good common sense advice. The book has also given me much more confidence in treating minor problems that I would normally have worried about and ended up taking the dog to the Vet just in case I wasn't doing the correct thing. I would recommend the book to any person with a dog, it will be a great help to both the person and the dog.

As a multiple dog owner, I was looking for a reference book to help become savvy in home care .... those trips to the vet can be so expensive! "Vet on Call" is concise but comprehensive. It's well-organized so you can look things up quickly, and it's written in language that's easy to understand. The great thing is that the book tells you how to develop a home first aid kit, how to perform a routine check on your pet ... and then it goes through all sorts of scenarios and possible illnesses/injuries -- what you can do at home, when you should be worried, and how to recognize true emergencies. I have purchased several copies of this book to be sure I have it with me whenever I need it -- it's great for travel, and I also keep a copy at work because I am always referencing and recommending this book to others. While I also have my American Red Cross Animal First Aid book on hand, "Vet on Call" is my first line of defense when it comes to taking care of my dogs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Before this book I went to the Vet when Benji vomited because I didn't know what to do, but now I know and most of these expensive trips can be avoided. This book has already saved it's price.
