5.0 out of 5 stars L-lysine powder is easy to use., March 26, 2007
This review is from: Vet Solutions Viralys (L-Lysine) Powder (600 grams) (Misc.)
This product works great for my cats with herpes. You can sprinkle it on dry food or mix it with some wet and they do not even know it is there. It is helping keep their symptoms under control. This is an excellent product.

We started our pedigreed Burmese kittens on Viralys twice a day when they were five months old. They have congenital herpes that was causing them to cough, sneeze and have runny eyes. Cats bred in multiple cat households, no matter how hygenic, are prone to herpes. Until we put the kittens on Viralys we were practically living with the vet. Since then (2 years ago) they have been completely healthy. The breeder suggested it and we are thrilled. It is extremely inexpensive and totally does the trick.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lysine powder, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Vet Solutions Viralys (L-Lysine) Powder (600 grams) (Misc.)
My cats will eat this when I put it in their wet food. Hurray! It does stink (my opinion, not the cats'). ...As long as they'll eat it... The problem here is, in a multiple cat household, you're never quite sure how much each cat is actually getting. Still, it is much better than having to give pills every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars the kitties love it, March 13, 2011

We foster cats and kittens, rescued from kill 'shelters.' We give them l-lysine to help boost their immune system and suppress herpes. This is the most palatable product I've found, the kitties all seem to like it sprinkled on their canned food and eat it easily.

I adopted a kitten who brought a URI with him. It infected my other cat, and developed itself into irritated inner eyelids for the kitten. Administering this, and other medicated eye-drops, seem to have done the trick. I will be adding it to their morning and night canned food for a very long time.

Price-wise, this was certainly better than the 3.5 grams for $28.00 that the vet clinic was offering. I was able to price check while I waited in the examination room. I have 4 cats, and they all get a little spoonful each twice a day. I have maybe used a 1/5th of the container and I've had it for 2 months. I don't see any reason why I would buy anything else.

The flavoring the powder has (while pungent) has also, as a side-effect, made the canned food more attractive for my youngest kitten, who preferred kibble before (have you ever heard of a cat who prefers kibble over canned meat?!) But now she eats the canned food just fine. They all get excited and meow at my feet when I'm preparing their breakfast each morning.

I was told this would help my cat with her condition, was very skeptical about buying it and it working. Completely impressed with how much better she has been since being on this. She is so much more playful and energetic. Shipment is fast too.

The shipping was fast and the product seems fine, but it's annoying that the screw-on lid doesn't work quite right. It screws closed but not quite all the way. I've bought the smaller container in the past and I think I'll go back to that when I've finished this one. The product itself does an outstanding job of keeping my kitties' eyes clear and healthy and I highly recommend it.

I have used this product for over three years to boost my cat's immunity. She was diagnosed with feline herpes as a kitten. Her symptom was frequent sneezing. After a couple of weeks dosing her with Viralys, no more sneezing and there has never been a recurrence. I also give it to my other cat because he could have contracted the herpes from her and I want to prevent an outbreak.

One little abandoned cat we adopted managed to give his feline herpes to the other five. Daily use of viralys keeps the symptoms under control--no wheezing, no sniffling, no runny eyes or runny noses. I get viralys in the largest container I can find. This is an excellent purchase.

Two of my cats have suffered with sequestrum eye ulcers and needed operations. I read about this product on the internet and have been using it now for all my cats (I have 10) for the last 3 years. So far there have been no more problems and the cats don't seem to mind it in their food
