I have a hairless Chinese Crested but somehow he's managed to get a flea infestation. Since all he has is thin peach fuzz, it's kind of repulsive to see fleas by the dozens crawling on his skin in plain view. And because flea medication won't work on him because of his lack of fur, we have to rely on sprays, shampoos, and collars. This spray actually kills the fleas ON CONTACT. It's amazing to watch this work! Of course, I always have to bathe him afterwards because he'll be covered with dead fleas.
The smell is a little potent but not bad at all, smells exactly like its ingredients clove and peppermint.

I bought the 32 oz. one originally and used it during flea season. You can spray on the dog and surfaces and it doesn't use anything that could harm a dog. The smell is kind of like potpourri. I wish the price was proportionate as this 8 oz is almost the same price as the 32 oz.

I am not a vet, nor am I an expert on essential oils. That said, after researching the ingredients in this product I found that it contains essential oils that are reportedly harmful to cats. Cats lack certain liver functions that allow for the breakdown of many essential oils. Therefore, according to material I have found on the internet, these oils are not easily eliminated from a cat's system and can build up rapidly and cause toxicity and even death. I personally would not use these oils on my cat but would recommend that everyone do their own research and decide what you are comfortable using on your cat. It's not easy to find a product that will kill fleas while still being safe for your cat. The only thing I am comfortable using is Flea Treats. While not a flea killer, these tablets contain brewer's yeast and B vitamins that make your cat smell and taste bad to fleas. Be aware that what is safe for a human or a dog can sometimes kill a cat. NEVER USE PRODUCTS MEANT FOR DOGS ON A CAT!!!! Do your homework before giving your cat ANY kind of medication or flea treatment.

*This review is based on my findings for cats only. Dog owners please take similar precautions.

I really hate to write review with a single star but there is little to no merits regarding this product as far as we're concerned.
We have two Great Danes which we grow closer to everyday. About a month ago we got a flea infestation & it's been a constant monkey on our back costing is $100's. More often than not larger dog breed tend to handle medicine better than smaller or more active breeds, & we've had Doberman's, German Shepard's, & Mastiff's.
Well, we figured anything natural surely would be better than a man made chemical, though not as effective. We started with a round of Capstar which did work pretty well, & then a follow-up with a topical medicine, Advantag. That's when one of our Dane's began looking up at the ceiling for no apparent reason, it's a very weird reaction but it didn't seem to affect him otherwise & it slowly went away over about 3 weeks.
It was decided to go the natural route to finish getting rid of the fleas, we sprayed this on out Danes & my wife & daughter left to go shopping. About 30 minutes after the application the same Dane jumped off the couch towards me & went into a seizure, I called my wife home since her we need her SUV to transport the dog to the vet. It took her about 15 mins.to get home at which time our Dane had come out of his 3rd & last seizure. They weren't terrible episodes & he maintained consciousness through-out everything, it was enough to make you angry at yourself & the company who makes this product.
Just do you homework, & look up every chemical or ingredient before you to give it your animal, I wished I had. Our Danes are doing okay now, we've got baking soda in the carpets & treating the carpeted rooms with dry ice. If you look at my other reviews you can see all the products we've bought to deal with this.

Regards,
Steve

If you have not read or are not aware of the detrimental effects of essential oils on cats, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do some research! I was not aware of the issue until another alert reviewer raised the topic. I did my own research, and I encourage each of you cat owners to do the same. There are lots of articles / cautions online, including those from the ASPCA, Humane Society, etc., regarding the inability of cats to metabolize essentil oils. For the well-being of your pet, please read and understand the issue before purchasing and using this product on or around your cat!

Had to take my old guy to the emergency animal hospital. Vet at the hospital said that the oils in this product are very toxic to cats (clove & peppermint). Called the company Vets Best, they said their vet approved the product but couldn't locate who their vet was. Very unaccommodating to the huge vet bill I incurred from their product and making my cat so sick.

DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU HAVE ALOT OF MONEY AND DON'T CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUR PET.

I am all for 100% natural and when our kitty came up with fleas combing was just not enough. I ordered this and was pleased to see our Augustus did not reject and run. It still takes a constant effort and I did not saturate to skin as directed.I did a heavy spray onto tissue and wiped on flea comb. It does kill fleas that I take off comb onto tissues with product. I did place a bit at neck nape and in back near his tail. I would recommend product to a finicky pet lover looking for a natural option. It does have a fresh clove smell.
