This is much brighter than the Planet Bike Superflash but not as bright (nor as expensive) as the Dinotte tail light. The flash pattern is only about 65 times per minute with about equal time on vs. off. The Superflash and the Dinottes have an irregular pattern(s) that is more attention getting.

The combination of this light and either of the others would provide redundancy plus give both an attention getting flash pattern and, once you get noticed, a steady light for drivers to track where you are.

This was a deal when the price was dropped to under $30.

Here in the wet northwest I wanted to make sure motorists can see me at night in the rain. I have a Planet Bike Blinky mounted on my helmet and this Vetta on my seat tube. The Vetta blows the blinky away in terms of brightness. Not only brighter, but also a wider, more "full" beam of light. BTW, the Vetta is brightest in non-flashing mode, and imo, more noticeable than in flashing mode. From my research, as of this writing, other than the Dinotte which costs 3X as much, this is the brightest taillight on the market. Quality is very good, for example, they use a rubber 0-ring seal on the wired-connector to keep water out. Very pleased with light, a great value. Now - my apologies to cyclists coming up behind me...you'll need to avert your eyes.

I bought this tail light because I wanted an extremely bright taillight for commuting. The problem is that the one I got only worked if held in the hand. When inserted into the mounting bracket, it distorted the case of the light just enough to short out the circuitry, leaving only the faintest glimmer of a light. I returned the light asking for a replacement, but instead, they credited my account, so I suspect that there were a lot of problems with this light. By the way, when it worked, it was truly brilliant with a fairly wide beam pattern.

Very bright and easy to operate. I use lithium batteries and it will operate for a whole biking season (2 -3 hours per trip 4 times per week, for 6 -7 months) without replacing batteries. Gets wet without any issues.

This light is the best and brightest for the money. There is no comparison between it and any of the portland design or other blinky lights (which indeed are great for their purpose). It is simply brighter due to the amount of leds and battery. Living in the pacific northwest means you need bright for rain / snow, etc. and as I commute to work 13 miles each way this light was a no brainer.

The problem with this light and 3 star rating is that the wiring if faulty. On my light, the black wiring cover started to peel/split almost immediately and exposed the small wires beneath; it was brittle. I decided to cut it off and solder an extended wire in order to use with my rear rack and replace the problem. The soldering process went great and I ended up using the light with great success for 6 months; however, the entry point to the battery pack and the light itself continued to be compromised. What I discovered is that the small wires started to fray and then break where they entered the body of the light and the battery pack. Within a short time, the light failed to work. I tried to dremel and drill out this portion for full replacement of all wiring but gave up before completion (it could be done but I didn't care to fool with it anymore).

This problem is a shame because this is truly a great light. My cycling friend refused to ride directly behind me at night b/c it was too bright for him. I think Vetta fixed the problem on later renditions of the light with a cord that plugged / unplugged but am not sure if wiring was upgraded or not? The quality and craftsmanship of the light and batter pack are excellent; however, I did have to re-glue the red cover back on the light (minor fix) at one point and if purchased I would ensure it is properly glued. Overall, this could be a great product without the serious wiring flaw; if you want to use it you will likely be replacing or repairing the wires....
