5.0 out of 5 stars Shake shake it, July 31, 2002

This review is from: Vh1 Behind the Music: K.C. & Sunshine Band Coll (Audio CD)
Today's funk has lost "that" yesterday's sound. It's so good to find K. C. & the Sunshine Band's music. This is music made for dancing, of course. But I recommend listening to this music with a good pair of headphones. This way you will find lots of tiny funky sounds like piano / guitar vamps, snare tricks, etc. Nevertheless yes, you can do it: crank your stereo up to the roof. Shake it. Flow with the music, close your eyes, let grow up your afro, put on your imaginary bell-bottoms, shake it up and smile. This CD is worth the voyage.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the same old songs (but oh, what songs)!, November 6, 2001
This review is from: Vh1 Behind the Music: K.C. & Sunshine Band Coll (Audio CD)
First things first - I love this band and its music. These songs, while simple lyrically, are timeless tropical rhythm and blues cuts that never fail to get people on the dance floor. One hundred years from now, people will find "Get Down Tonight," put it on whatever recording device they're using, and start dancing before the introduction is over. This particular CD is a compilation of their big hits ("That's the Way I Like It," "Boogie Shoes," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep It Comin' Love") with a few early album tracks. The CD is excellent, but Rhino's insistence on releasing KC best-ofs with the same twelve or thirteen tracks over and over and over again gets frustrating. There are some great Sunshine Band songs that Rhino owns the rights to, but have yet to be released commercially in the United States. Why don't they add gems like "Come To My Island" or "Baby I Want Your Lovin?" Have any of you ever heard their reggae song, "How About A Little Love?" What about their Sound of Sunshine instrumental cuts? Great stuff, but Rhino keeps giving us "All I Want" and the Spanish version of "Please Don't Go." Anyways, enjoy the music, and go see the band live the next time they're near you. You won't regret it.
