Excellent, fun album of the '90s hits!,

I thought that this album was very good. At first, I was skeptical, given that these songs have been played thousands of times on radio stations, car stereos, even sports arenas and stadiums. And the novelty value of some songs. I liked that they chose the Spice Girls Say You'll be There instead of that silly Wannabe. That song displays their singing and sexy vocal styles more. And lots of party numbers like Whoomp There It Is, Mambo No. 5, O.P.P., Jump Around, En Vogue's heavy funk of My Lovin', I'm Too Sexy and others. That Friends theme song is still recognizable a decade later--this full version beats the 30 or so seconds that we had to hear on TV. Some critics dismissed these songs when they first came out, but they have really held up some 7 to 13 years later. People still love these songs. I still don't like Tubthumping--there's about 4 or five genres going on in that song that's all about heavy drinking. But this is a very diverse album and it's about time that the '90s got its respect. They talk about the '70s, '80s. '60s and other decades a lot, but the '90s need its respect and this album justifies that! The mix and mastering of the album is just superb and top notch for its 53 minutes!

This is an awesome collection of great, upbeat music I remember from when I was growing up in the 90s. The great thing about the 90s was the diversity of the popular songs and, oh, the one-hit wonders we had! From longer-standing groups like power girl group En Vogue, Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies to the ultimate one hit wonder Right Said Fred. They're all here! From the opening piano of "O.P.P" to the horns of "Mambo No.5" - I love this CD! Put it on, crank it up and dance around your house to show everyone YOU love the 90s!

I would have given this CD one more star if there were more tunes but I can't complain too much because the price was just right for the range of music that can be had on one cd.
I can agree with another reviewer in that "grunge" was completely overlooked here in favor of the pop stuff (Hanson? Come on!) but there are other 90's compilations out there that have plenty of grunge on them (and plenty of songs that no one heard except when they were in the middle of turning off the radio at 3 o'clock in the morning). Regardless, this compliation is pretty representative of the range of music that was big in the 90's - pop, rap, even theme songs from TV shows. That's what made the 90's so much more better than the 80's - no one type of music dominated (whereas, in the 80's, the cheesier the better) and, best of all, they were the Clinton years. This one cd blows Billboard's 90's compliation out of the water ... and then some. Good deal for great music.

Product was brand new in shrink wrap and the price was decent. However, CD case was cracked when item arrived.

Ah, it seems like yesterday, the days of grunge, of the Spice Girls, Tubthumping and the Bare Naked Ladies. OK, it wasn't that long ago, but now is a good time to sit back and remember. This VH-1 album is designed to help you do just that. It's an interesting mix of hip-hop and popular music, all sounding great.
I found this to be a very good album, with a great mix of music. So, pop this CD is your player, sit back, and remember the 90s!

The Nasty Nineties,

This CD should have been called "The Most Annoyingly Overplayed Songs of the 1990's." With the exception of "Shine," every single track on this CD is juvenile, mindless, fluff that was overplayed on the radio in the radio until you were ready to scream! If you're looking for a CD that represents the greatest music of the 1990's, check out Non Stop 90's Rock or Forever 90's instead.
However, you might be interested in this CD if you want to host a cheesy 90's dance party. The songs are kind of fun and catchy if you listen to them in moderation.

I love the cheesy "looking back" shows on VH1 and now there is a soundtrack to go with the episodes! This really is a good compilation CD--I only wish it included more. It is 90's pop and what I remember of the 90's was grunge. Oh well...good overall.

Seeing as how VH1 is the bomb, they decided ot put out a cd for their bad shows "I Love the 70's", "I Love the 80's", and "I Love the 90's". I'm a 90's brat, so I'm freaking happy as ever with this compilation. Great tunes, great times, great memories. Rock on VH1!!!! (here's already waiting for a "I Love the 90's Strikes Back!!)

has anyone else noticed that there isnt a single nirvana song? of all of the bands of the 90s, nirvana was undoubtedly one of the more luminary bands. and yet they appear nowhere on this compilation. instead, we are treated to the worst of the consumerist, disposable pop trash the 90s had to offer. a retrospective album should do more to cover the diverse styles of music that were prevalent at this time, but this album falls short in every aspect.
