Back in December my old Tetra brand heater started leaking. I needed a replacement fast and ended up buying another one the same brand. I was very unhappy with it and had been wanting to replace it with another brand. As I was shopping for a new one on Amazon, I noticed this ViaAqua heater for an amazingly low price. I liked the design and that it was also adjustable, not like the Tetra heater. The reviews for this heater were so positive I knew I just had to try it. The local pet stores do not carry this brand and are extremely limited on their choices and are very high priced. So if you are not desperate for a heater and can wait a few days to get one, order this one!!!! Set up is so easy and the temperature is easy to adjust. I like to keep my tank temperature at 77-78 degrees. My old one was only about 74 degrees. After about an hour and a half my fish became more frisky and active. They seem much happier with the warmer water. Try this heater - you will love it and so will your fish! I have a 29 gallon tank and decided to go with the 100 watt heater. The 200 watt heater seemed like overkill for a difference of 4 gallons.

I bought this for two baby yellow bellied sliders. They seem to be doing fine and I believe it has helped stimulate appetite. The temperature was pretty accurate according to the built in thermostat. I have it running 80 degrees farenheit. It was only a few degrees higher than what it was supposed to be when I measured with a digital thermometer. I also have this at an angle even though it says in the instructions that it is a no no to do so. There is a caution in the manual that says something like wash your hands after handling with the product because it contains chemicals that are known to cause cancer and birth defects...I don't know what that could be though...The whole unit has been submerged with no problems. The heater does a good job of regulating the heat. Note: do not place the water outlet of your filter right on the heater. It will cause a temperature drop and cause the unit to heat up uneccessarily. Has a nice light that turns on to let you know when it is heating.

This heater has no problem keeping a 10 gallon tank up to temp. The temp reading on the front is easy to see with it's orange coloring. The included mounting clip is sturdy with large suction cups that easily keep the heater in place.

It's not noted in the item info but this heater operates from 68 to 93 degrees. Good for tanks that need a higher temp for some tropical fish.

Works as described. you have to mount it sideways if you use it in a 20 gallon long tank.

Bought this to replace a cheaper unit that wasn't working. The dial on this is amazingly useful, and I can adjust my 10 gallon tank to within a half a degree!

I submerged this heater in my new tank, waited 15 minutes, then turned it on. Three days later the water still isn't warm, so I take a close look at the heater and the whole bottom was shattered off. It never even got warm. Worse even, I had my hands in the tank several times, can't believe I wasn't electrocuted. I then had to remove gravel and rinse the glass out. NOT a pleasant experience. On top of that I had to pay $4 to return this piece of junk, wow.

I saw a few comment say that it's a few degrees hotter, here is what I discovered you should put the heater in the tank for 30 mins and all that stuff before turn on and if you want to CHANGE the temperature, you have to turn the setting UP until the light TURN ON, and then turn it all the way down till the light TURN OFF now wait a few second and change to the temperature that you want, the heater light now should be on and will get the temperature that you set. You need to do this everytime you change the temperature. ( this may just only work for mine idk can someone test this and tell me?
