"Viagens" is a great CD! I play it all the time and regret not buying his second album "Tempo" last time I was in Portugal.

I bought this CD in 1997. I got it from a little store in Coimbra on the recommendation of the clerk there. Since then I have played it dozens of times and it never gets far from the CD player. If you like gravel voiced males, hot jazz fusion, and tight ensemble playing, this CD is a gem.

Pedro Abrunhosa is a rebel. He was a jazz teacher, and one day he decided to pick his best students, get in a plain to New York, and meet Prince! Amazing! In the same day he met Maceo Parker (the Louis Armstrong sax man) and invited him to play along in his first album, and Maceo accepted! "Viagens" is a great album, a mix-a-lot of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and soul, with Pedro Abrunhosa counting on wonderful Maceo in the saxophone. Listen to "Socorro", "Não Posso Mais", "Tudo O Que Eu Te Dou" and of course "É Preciso Ter Calma". Acid Jazz is his best with Pedro Abrunhosa.

Pedro Abrunhosa is one of the best song-writers in Portugal, and this CD proves it; however, his voice is rather weak: he cannot quite sing, what he does is to speak very low and without any musicality: it can upset people who like to hear good musical performances. Good lyrics, great music, but a very poor singer.....

Good stuff!! Fresh and saucy!!! Abrunhosa is getting me closer to the portuguese language...and the first track 'nao posso' is simply the best on this album. His deep voice is pure testosterone, really!!

A great poet, musician and artist. A lot of people compare his things with themes by the-artist-formerly-known-as-Prince. But in fact, he is a genious himself. Inspired by old and new sounds, and - yes - inspired by a.k.a. Prince, he has reached a level of profesionalism, that cannot be easily compared. Do also listen to his new CD, which does also include tunes in english, as soon as it arrives to this site. (I am surprised tahat it aint here yet!)

Pedro Anbrunhosa e os Bandemonios are my favorite portuguese band. The music is great and the lyrics are awsome. This CD is the best .... If you'd like to listen to a different kind of music this CD is for you and if you understand portuguese and are a romantic this is also for you. I give this one 5 * * * * * huge gold stars.

Abrunhosa has written some of the best songs in Portuguese contemporary music. He truly captures the beauty of the language. He does not claim to be a singer, which he is not trained to be, but the moment you listen to his songs you will be captured by his deep voice and 'poetry'.

How wonderful to lounge with a glass of your favorite beverage and listen to this CD. The other reviewers hit it on the nose. Pedro Abrunhosa and Bandemonio are obviously a very talented group of people! This CD is an incredible experience for the senses. My friends all loved it so much that they have gone out and bought it because it is truly a treasure.
