This little insurance policy could save you hundreds!, March 24, 2009
No, it's not sold by a gecko. But it is definitely an insurance policy. My old insulin case fell off the shelf while I was drawing up a dose. It was only a couple of feet, but the brand new bottle of Lantus shattered. The case was ruined, the smell was awful, and over $100 worth of insulin was lost.
I found these cute little insulin cozies when I came to look for a new case. The short one fits my Novolog bottle, and the tall one fits the Lantus. The material fits the bottles snugly, and provides a thick, dense cushion all the way around. The padding on the bottom is just a little thinner, but the bottle is still well-protected. Hopefully, it'll be a long time before I drop another bottle, but if I do, I'll be in a much better situation.
The colors are bright and make identification of different bottles very easy. (As long as you remember which bottle gets which color...)
It's easy to get bottles back out, too. Just push on that thinner area on the bottom. The bottle moves easily, but stays under control. It won't pop out, but the top will come just far enough that you can get a good grip on it. Also useful if you want to take a quick look to see how much is left inside.
There are only two disadvantages. One is that the cushioning makes the bottles larger. You may need to find a new case. But at least you won't have to worry about them being tossed around and broken if left loose.
The other is the lack of transparency. You have to push part of the bottle out to see how much is left, and you have to pull the whole bottle out if you forget which kind of insulin is inside. A little plastic window might be a nice addition, if they could do it safely and cheaply.
Still, any way you look at it, it's a small price to pay to protect such an expensive, life-saving medicine.

A Must-Have for Diabetics on Insulin!, December 31, 2010
This review is from: Vial Protection by Securitee Blanket - Short Royal Blue (Health and Beauty)
I bought two of these, one in pink, and one in blue, for my Humalog and Novolin, and found that it also fits Novolog. They fit nice and snug around the vials, with the top of the vial just flush with the top of the protector. I use the pink for my Humalog and blue for Novolog, so that I don't get them mixed up, but I can still see the top of the vials to know I am using the right one.
Two days after I started using these, I dropped a bottle of Humalog. It hit the ground and just kind of bounced and stopped, absolutely no damage to the vial. I am sure that wouldn't have been the case if I had not put the cover on it!
I love the colors, too!

More than paid for itself!, March 16, 2010
This review is from: Vial Protection by Securitee Blanket - Short Royal Blue (Health and Beauty)
I ordered both the short (Humalog) and tall (Lantus) versions of this item for my husband. I don't remember which just more than paid for them both - but they are each golden! He accidently dropped a brand new bottle on the floor (a previous drop "pre-Securitee Blanket" resulted in broken glass/lost $/insulin smell). Now that the bottle was in the "Blanket" it suffered NO DAMAGE! Considering the cost of replacing one of these bottles - these more than paid for themselves already!
