Vianix has put its Managed Audio Sound Compression (MASC) technology to use in the SASO Digital Voice and Audio Management System. This gadget is a digital audio recording device that can compress and decompress audio files without sacrificing clarity during playback. Besides working as a mini-tape recorder, the integrated software translates speech into ready-to-print text files. Using the MASC technology, SASO compresses audio files to such a small size that is easier to transmit over any bandwidth connection. SASO can download 140 minutes of audio to a computer with a 56k modem in just 10 minutes -- image what it can do with high-speed connectivity!
This device is user friendly and can catalog up to 512 files and 64 different subdirectories. Aside from being practical, the SASO is also fun. It supports audio formats such as WAV and MP3, so this device doubles as a personal digital audio player and can hold up to an hour of music.
Unlike other digital recorders on the market, SASO is designed to "piggy-back" with Palm handheld devices. SASO and Palm connect via a cradle made available by Vianix. SASO?s files and compression options become more readily accessible on Palm?s large LCD screen, and recorded audio may be downloaded to a desktop via Palm?s mobile connection. All-in-all the SASO is a great way to integrate digital recording, transcribing, digital music playback, and Palm interface into one, convenient device.
