This thing worked great for about 2 months. Then the bulb started to fade. After 3 months the bulb completely burned out. I have been unable to find a replacement bulb. Good luck getting access to the bulb! The manufacturers website says, "No bulbs to replace, ever!" I'm guessing that means since there are bulbs available to replace you can't replace the bulb, hmmm....

I have three of these so I think i'm qualified to review the effectiveness of this item.

After about a month and a half, two of the three lamps, are already failing!

The bulbs on these lamps are supposed to last a long time (LED's). This is definitely not the case!

As far as killing bugs, these lamps fail miserably again. I have not found one bug in any of the three trays. There were many bugs but they ignored the lamps, even in a totally dark room.

I wrote to customer service twice about the two failing lamps and have not yet gotten any response!

So these lamps get failing grades for durability, effectiveness and the manufacturer doesn't even answer your emails!

So in effect these lamps have been a complete waste of money!

We live on a farm with lots of forests and a few swamps nearby. When I first moved here I could hardly stand being outside - day or night! I purchased the Mega-Catch Premier Mosquito Trap (MCP800) for outside and this took care of most of the problem. I still run it day and night though as I don't want our land to become infested again. (Been using it for 4 years running - still works like a charm!)

Our house, which isn't air tight, lights on at night, will attract a few mosquitos and make sleeping a pain in the butt. Even one or two mosquitos around your head at night is annoying. This unit takes care of that problem, we just leave it on in the kitchen in the evenings and summer nights are enjoyable once again - inside or out.

My brother's unit experienced same bulb failure as others. Otherwise, he likes the unit.

Average life of bulb may be 3000 hrs, or near 3 months continuous use.

Bulb is extremely difficult to replace, but is available.

Search for F4T5/BL. Just ordered 3 for $2.99 each plus shipping.

Alternate would be F4T5/CW which is a cool white bulb available from home improvement stores, just not sure how well it compares to black light for attracting insects.

Also, zapper leads are very poorly connected in the top of the unit. Suggest soldering or crimping while disassembled for bulb replacement.

This is designed as disposable in 2-3 months use, or slightly more if used intermittently.

THE WORST ZAPPER EVER!!!! I bought one of this BIG MARKETING LIE and pay the price of my naivety... When I take it out of the box it looks nice and intact. But I was quickly surprised when saw that it have a regular UV bulb, NOT LED as they assure in the product description... (and stupidity of mine because it is easy to notice in the Amazon's picture) After the upset, I leave it charging all the necessary time and prepare to use it that night... The first I notice was the zapper doesn't kill A SINGLE MOSQUITO!!! I even put the lamp in the middle of a mosquito cloud but they stay far away of zapper... My second surprise, the 10 Hrs battery use charge time... which was barely the half they offer!!!

The second an third day it kills 2 Mosquitos... and I did verify this zapper lamp have not enough attractive power to make bugs fly into and kill it... But the big surprise was the fourth day of use when I turn it on...!!! the REGULAR UV Bulb (the same "LED" who suppose to last virtually for ever...) lights just the half of intensity and looks like burned!!!

After that... the Lamp never zapp any other bug!!! and of course it doesn't work not even for use as a lantern...

In a regular case, a buyer could maybe return back or send this junk for service! but I am an overseas buyer, and in our case there is no more option than throw it away to garbage... after only 4 day of use!

THIS IS A BIG WASTE OF MONEY AND A HUGE PRODUCT LIE I STILL DON"T UNDERSTAND HOW AMAZON SELLS AND SUPPORT....!!!

Received in July 09, it never has really worked right, & the light hasn't come on in weeks, don't know how to try to get replacement bulbs? or what. We were so sure it would work we didn't keep the box, either, I did email the company, but have not heard anything. I would not suggest this product (unless by a miracle, the company sents me one that works as it says it does.

I noticed another write up, saying hers only last 2 months, so this product might be defective.

At this point, I cannot even honestly give it 1 star. (I had a coleman that lasted 2 yrs+).

I received this item as new, but the light never worked. It never charged and didn't even turn on. I returned it for a refund.

Love this thing!! you charge during the day, then let it sit on all night, zaps away all the mosquitos and other creapy bugs. :-)

Ok, been using little zappy for like 25years now. Charged it back in 1985, still works like a charm. Zapped like 8 trillion bad bugs... Now only a few left in our whole country.

No seriously, this thing is dope g!

Worked after first charge. Then sat on my Patio for months... Never got wet. When I went to use it it did not work. Wouldn't take or HOLD a Charge. Total waste of money!

Sooo disappointed!

They MADE me give this item ONE STAR. I would give it NO STARS. Why does AMAZON not give us a RED STAR for "not recommended?"
