Disappointed,
I bought about five of these for Xmas gifts plus one for myself. They were okay at first, but none of them work now. My friends were embarrassed to tell me. The product doesn't hold the "crank" charge and even then, not all the lights work. I took one on a camping trip, and it was of no use. Furthermore, I contacted Amazon to help me contact the company but they had no information. I also could not find this company online with contact information.

No Lie - This is a Great Emergency Flashlight.,

I don't know what went wrong with the previous poster's light - perhaps it was defective- but I ran a test on mine (just got it from my son for Christmas) and 1 minute of cranking gave over 2 hours of light on the 1-LED setting.... just as advertised! My guess is that you can divide the time by 3 if you turn on all three LED's. This sure beats having a shake-it-up inductor-based 5 minute flashlight.
I will buy one of these for each of my kids cars--no doubt about it. This light feels durable, looks nice, has a cool feel in the hand, only costs $10.40, and has adapters for Ericcson, Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung cell phones for quick recharging. The only downside seems to be the magnet. This fairly light-weight flashlight has a built in magnet, but it won't hold it's own weight on a vertical incline, so forget the fridge. Fine for a fairly level metal surface, but I don't plan on sticking it anywhere anyway: hence no drop in stars for this "feature". I was able to hang it over the wheelwell of the car, and it gave sufficient (low) light to say, change a tire. All I wanted was a powerful-enough cranking-not-shaking flashlight for emergencies at a low cost, and for $10.40, no battery costs, and one minute of easy cranking, my son found it.

Forget the batteries,

Experienced a total town blackout. Grabbed the Viatek and with a few cranks we had light. The 3 bulb selection gave us all the light we needed and for a long time. Other lights we have had only gave us a minute of light for a minute of cranking. Not with this unit. A great product.

I think I have an updated model FD01 revpack FD01/0908. It has a silver cover under the plastic where the lights are. Bought at a local store. Everything else seems the same. Except that it says 30 seconds of cranking gives up to 2 hours of light on the package, but instructions say 1 minute, but they could be old instruction. That is with the one LED setting. I have had mine on after about 50 or so cranks, as I write this. It has been nearly an hour on 3 LED setting. I have a Scrunch, hand lever pump type light. After a minute of pumping it starts to dim after about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then gets weak, but stays on for a long time, but very dim. Right now, after about an hour, the VIATEK is at that same dim level the other one is at in about a minute or so!!! This is a much better flashlight, and it can charge phones, and even my multi-media devices that use the mini-usb plug.
I can't see much on the other side of the room, but up close I can still read labels and stuff. I hope it keeps working. YOU CAN REPLACE THE BATTERY INSIDE IF YOURS DOES NOT KEEP A CHARGE ANY LONGER, or at least my version states you can. It take a LiR 2032 battery. Lithium Rechargeable. 3.6v.36ma. It has been more than one hour, it is still on. Very dim across the room, but I can still read the instructions with it. GREAT LIGHT!!! Hope this review helps... UPDATE: Jan, 15 2012. I tried to charge my mp4 devices, and even though I do get a charge indicator, after 10 minutes of cranking there was no appreciable charge. I don't have a cell phone, so it might work in them. But just to let people know, it did not charge my multimedia devices, or did not do it much.... STILL a nice light that I use all the time...

I bought this for my kids - always looking for renewable power flashlight options because kids always leave flashlights on. I think we've had this for a year or two, and my daughter informed me the other day it doesn't hold it's charge. Now I can't even get the button to work. My best option is just to use rechargable batteries in regular kid's flashlights. I expected more from an expensive flashlight.

Disappointing - 1 minute cranking last at most 1 minute of light,

Crank it for a minute or two and all you get is about one minute of light. Disappointing. Maybe another brand is better...
