I originally wrote a glowing review of this thing (which explains the four stars, which I can't change). Since then it's been tossed in the recycling.

I liked it, kinda. I wanted to love it. But it ended up driving me to frustration, because it takes so much time and effort to get a reasonable amount of pepper out of the thing. And it holds too little pepper. And the grind isn't adjustable.

Here's what's good: the design is simple; it's easy to clean; and I love being able to grind pepper one-handed. But this isn't enough.

I ended up giving up o the one-handed concept. Couldn't find an adequate grinder that worked this way. What I have now and for the last year is the Unicorn Magnum grinder. This thing is the holy grail. Takes two hands, but does everything perfectly.

It's true that using the grinder can require the use of two hands. However, this hasn't been a big issue in my use. I own two of them (one for salt, the other for pepper). When I used rock salt in the grinder, I needed to occassionally use two hands. Once I switched to coarse kosher salt, the problem disappeared.

solid, well made, cool looking and I think works well. wife doesn't like it because only a small amount of pepper per pump, which is true but I don't think someone would expect large amounts "per pump" from this... certainly good enough for peppering a meal versus cooking. I'm going to buy the salt mill to go with it. four stars because of my wife's opinion and it is a bit pricey...otherwise I'd give it five.

Saw this pepper mill is a resturant and was impressed by the design and functionality. Now that I have it for a while I am even more impressed. The one handed action makes it easy to grind. It produces a coarse grind, which is perfect for salads.

Nice addition to the table. Soild feel and design.

This is a great one handed pepper grinder with a simple and effective design. The only drawback is that the size of the grind can't be adjusted.

This is a very attractive grinder. It does require a strong thumb. Just wipe it off after use. Easy to refill.

A pepper grinder for the person on the go or a small kitchen table.
This item is not only a good looking, it works great. You dont have to stand up as with long grinders when at the table, just pump with your finger.

My wife and I discovered the Pump and Grind Pepper Mill several years ago, and have found it to be a wonderful tool for the kitchen and on the road. It is ideal to grab when you only have one hand available. We love the look, the construction, and the Amazon price. We recently found an wonderful spice - Grains of Paradise, a peppery spice with a touch of heat and citrus - and purchase another Pump and Grind just for it. We currently have three, and will probably own more, as they are ideal for people who like to use different peppers.
We both do a lot of cooking for various events and have found these to be a great way to bring several different kinds of peppers in a small, but reliable package.
We miss the adjustable grind, but find it not to be too much of a drawback. Beside, the WoW factor when you pull it out the first time is almost worth the price of admission - which by the way, is great on Amazon. The price usually runs one to three dollars less than the market place, and when you factor in Amazon Prime - what a deal

This is very solid and weaponlike resembling a James Bond prop but I don't mind the size. Mine came with peppercorns already in the mill. I hope this wasn't a returned product to Amazon. The one handedness and the size and solidness is just right for me. I have other peppermills that I will now use for other whole spices.

Expected this to work a lot easier, but I need to use both hands. Like the idea of pumping the mill instead of turning it. Very attractive.
