I love this pepper grinder. The finish is beautiful and makes it aesthetically pleasing. It feels like a well made product as well. I read many reviews before purchasing this one. What sold me was the lifetime warranty. I advise anyone who buys this grinder to find out more about the adjustments. I read about it in another review and am glad I did. The grinder does a wide range of consistencies from a powder to cracked peppercorns. If you don't get the grind you like, adjust it and you will. This is really a great product for much less than other comparable grinders.

I researched for months on this! I have tried the magnum and other high end brands, but feel in Love with this model. I will tell you why!

1. The grind is amazing and works great for tight and loose courses of pepper. I can get it super fine for omeletts to pop softly in your mouth with flavor rather than chunks that overpower the egg. Or smooth constant larger grinds with homemade pepper corn ranch that give you the kick you need without a lack of consitancy.

2. The feel is divine. Soft and smooth yet solid feel for grip and cranking.

3. Ok so it is made in the USA! Maine for that matter so you are supporting our country!

4. It has a life time guarantee if anything breaks on the mech.4 LIFE!

5. The grinder is 18/10 stainless steel incribley well made and the grind control is a LOVE!You can lock in your grind on the top! Rather than from the bottom. This makes it so easy to change your grind while you are floating from one dish to the next without your hands having to gett filled with pepper from the bottom

6. Taking it appart is easy and putting pepper in is fine. i would have prefered a complmentry feeding funnel that I saw on the website. I did not recieve one from this order.

7. 7 inch is plenty for the house cook who cooks 7 days a week. You do not need to go more or less. It fits in the cabinets no problem and does not leak pepper out when it is just standing there.

I am going to get the matching salt grinder and try that next.

It is a personal prference but the Vic Firth Pepper Mill is a top 10 cooking tool you must have!

I've purchased a dozen (well maybe 4 or 5) pepper mills through the years. The Vic Firth pepper mill is very nice quality and I expect it will give me many years of use. I've had it now for a couple of years, I use it almost every day and I've had no problems. Just the pleasure of a pepper mill that works. (The only negative I have with it, because of the size I have to refill a little more often than what I'd like. That said, I like the 7" size as it is convenient for both use and storage.)

I bought one for myself and love it! Yea, it might cost a bit more than other brands, but since I'm a "cooking" drummer (and play Vic Firth sticks), I just couldn't resist. The quality if very fine, and made in the USA. I bought another one for my friend who is also a drummer. A wonderful Mill.

i think the people who downrate this are from another galaxy. I have had a half dozen peppermills including high end Peugeot's. They all either stunk or broke. I finally had it and went to a local gourmet store that had a huge selection and said I wanted the best; they recommended a Vic Wirth. Name was familiar.....then I remembered he made drumsticks - I saw posters for them at a music store I used to take my kids to. Then I found out if was from my home state of Maine.
So I bought one.
Nothing else comes close.
Well made, good value. Can grind to nearly a powder or very coarse. Very reliable. I can grind a tablespoon from peppercorns in a couple minutes. The people with the 3 star reviews? Forget it.

I've always used Vic Firth drumsticks, and after reading the reviews i couldn't resist trying out one of their pepper mills. We have been using it daily for about 3 weeks and we are very happy with it. it is easily adjustable and offers a wide range of grinds, from super coarse to super fine. it feels very sturdy, and well built, and nicely ergonomic - it fits very naturally into your hands. at this price-point this grinder is well worth the money in our opinion - so long as it doesnt fall apart within the next year :) and i'm already looking into getting a Vic Firth salt mill.....

I thought by paying more, I'd get a good product. However, you're mostly paying for the looks. This mill doesn't grind the pepper well enough and is infact no better than cheaper models out there. Much of the seed is just cracked in two instead of being ground finer.

I wouldn't recommend this product, unless you just want something nice sitting on your dining room table.
