I decided to go for this bag, since it seemed a bit more deluxe and I suspected it might last longer than the old-fashioned nylon Vic Firth stick bag.

It does do what it's supposed to do, and it has a vast amount of storage for sticks, mallets, tools, and notebooks. It's fairly comfortable to wear, if you really want to wear the thing. At its size though, it doesn't fit into my messenger bag when riding my bike to the studio.

The vinyl does seem rather long lasting, and the seams appear to be well sewn. The zippers appear strong and work smoothly. The vinyl does have a rather strong synthetic odor to it, that has dissipated a bit over time.

One feature that I liked are the built in lug mounts. There are two spring-loaded clips that clasp onto your floor tom lugs, putting the sticks in a nice accessible location. The bag however is so heavy that the elastic that runs through the bag is stretched, and you have to attach it to lugs that are pretty distant in order to keep the elastic taught and the bag from drooping. A couple of times, the elastic band came untied from the clip and it was a bit annoying to have to retie it, but a double-knot is sufficient for a while.

I took the bag on tour and it did the job, until one of the plastic lug mounting clips broke. Actually, the thumb-switch for recoiling the spring-loaded portion broke. From then, I had to use two hands to hold and manually open the clip far enough to get it off of the lug. Trust me, it's annoying. You don't want that to happen.

Overall, I think the bag is overkill, unless you absolutely have to carry 24 pairs of sticks, mallets, a ton of hardware, and some small notebooks.

My initial reaction was "This case is massive!"

The good:
Leather and zipper are very high quality and have the look-and-feel of something built to last your entire life. There is enough space to pack everything a stick bag should, minus the actual percussion. A couple small pockets inside make carrying a pitch pipe, drum key, or other small sensitive equipment easy and accessible. It would have been nice to make something like a magnetic detachable keyring inside for quickly grabbing your drum key. For the money, the quality overall is satisfactory.

The bad:
The hooks for attaching to your low tom are pathetic, little (in comparison to the case), thin plastic, and spring loaded with what feels like the worlds smallest spring. The tom hooks are connected with the stretchy unreliable elastic seen in backpack netting. The hooks for the detachable backpack straps are also lacking in reliability. They feel and look like the ones that come attached to toys and toddler backpacks. Because this case can hold so much, these hooks feel like they will never last.

I used this bag for 6+ years of heavy gigging... It gave up the ghost last week when the zipper self-destructed. I'm still in mourning.

I needed a bigger bag since I pack 5As, 7As, mallets, brushes, hot rods, jazz sticks, in ears, headphones, a roll of tape, shakers, music, etc (you get the idea) in this bag. Obviously its a spacious bag that can handle a lot of wear and tear.

Probably my only minor complaint was that the compartments are so roomy that your sticks are able to move around-- if there was ever to be a 2.0 version of this bag I'd segment the largest two interior compartments to better hold sticks in place.

Still, one heck of a bag, I'm buying another one!

It holds all size sticks and has room for an orchestra music folder. The backpack straps make for easy carry. Highly recommended.

Brought this bag for my son's collection of percussion sticks and as recommended by the school. Looks to be an excellent bag. Well designed and well made. I am not the user of the bag but I am impressed by it's versatility. My son likes it too. A little expensive.

Had to buy this model because that's what the band director said so. The bag only made it about half-way through the school year until the zipper started becoming detached and would no longer zip all the way.

I have been a professional drummer for over 45 years and this has to be the most useful and versatile bag that I have come across. There is acres of room for sticks, brushes, mallets and whatever else you can fit in and the two zipped interior pockets are useful for tuning keys, pens, reading glasses etc. There are 4 exterior pockets and these are so useful, I don't know how I managed without them all these years! In partcular, the A4 size zipped pocket takes scores and exercise books, which saves carrying a seperate case. the other pockets are of a good size and also zipped, so these are useful for a mobile phone, MP3 player.

The bag attaches to the floor Tom-Tom lugs by two elasticated clip-on hooks. I will be interested to see how this bag hold up to the rigours of touring, but so far I have no complaints except that due to the size of storage for sticks, brushes etc. some internal compartments could have been easily added to the space to prevent the sticks moving around. Perhaps this will be addressed in time. All in all, a real professional job and it looks great as well. Highly recommended.
