5.0 out of 5 stars Best Salt Grinder Ever
I've being using this product for more than a year.
It is easy to use. It's good for humid places and specially boats.

PROS
1) Maintain the salt free of humidity
2) The salt is grinded into a cloud of tiny grains. The grains are grinded into smallest size than commercial grinded salt. Looks like salt powder.
3) The acrylic tube let's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks better than it is
Good looking and works well, in dry weather. Very little salt comes out when it's humid. The capacity of this mill is small.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Salt Grinder Ever, November 16, 2008

I've being using this product for more than a year.
It is easy to use. It's good for humid places and specially boats.

PROS
1) Maintain the salt free of humidity
2) The salt is grinded into a cloud of tiny grains. The grains are grinded into smallest size than commercial grinded salt. Looks like salt powder.
3) The acrylic tube let's you know when to refill.
4) The size is perfect for daily use at home.
5) In contrast with battery operated grinder, it's always ready to use, the salt is grinder into powder not large grains, and it's free of moist.
6) The small grains of salt (powder released) is more pleasantly and rapidly dissolve in the mouth compared to others salt grinders and standard salt.
7) The salt is released with consistence (quantity and grain size) with every push.
8) It's easy to use for adults with just one hand. Good for occasional used at the kitchen or daily use at the table.

CONS
1) The grinder might be difficult to push by toddlers (which is good in a way since it helps to make them use less salt).
2) After several times of falling to the floor (more than ten times in my case), might broke at the acrylic part.
3) The amount of salt storage might be consumed fast by a chef or if you used more than 100 grams daily (3.5 Ounces).
4) The grinder might stop working if you wet the base by accident. If so, replace the humid salt and it will keep working like new.

PS: I bought booth the salt and pepper grinder. Both are the same in size and parts. In fact I ended up using the pepper grinder for salt too and it works perfect.

I first bought a travel size pepper mill and loved being able to grab with one hand and use it while cooking. I finally ordered the salt one and glad that I did. I don't care that it doesn't hold alot of salt. It's not like I have to add more salt to it often...more like every 2 or 3 months. I live in California so I guess I don't have issues with the humidity that others have commented on. I lost mine (I have no idea how) and ordering a second one so that says alot. Of course I will find the lost one the day the new one comes in the mail...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful salt mill, October 9, 2008

Yes, it is small, only six inches high, and works like a charm. I have gone thru several one handed mills from different companies. I also live in an area of high humidity. The other brands have cracked and/or rusted, and the salt flow eventually diminish to almost nothing. The Vic Firth (after 3 weeks) is still easy to use and delivers an adequate amount of salt. I'm really impressed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great - If you're on a salt free diet., February 23, 2009
This review is from: Vic Firth STS06SM01 "Pump & Grind" Salt Mill, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
The mill looks stylish and tasteful. Problem is: You have to work too hard for too little reward. Per push only a supersmall amount of salt is being dispensed, which makes for A) strong forearms after a few weeks or B) a diet very light on salt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally I found a great salt grinder!, May 24, 2011
This review is from: Vic Firth STS06SM01 "Pump & Grind" Salt Mill, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I have used them all, from traditional shaped grinders to things that looked like a rabbit with ears, but nothing could seem to do the trick for me. I wanted something that looked good (not like a reject from a bad picnic) but also functioned well and would not break easily. This salt grinder fits the bill. It is sexy looking and works like a charm. The business end of the grinder is all metal and that is what I love about it.

The ONLY con I have found about this grinder is that it is not the largest in the world, and filling it could be easier. When they make a JUMBO version I am all over it. Till then.. I guess I will have to reduce my sodium consumption.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but comes with a little surprise, August 24, 2009

This appears to be a high quality pump style grinder however, when I received the product, I was surprised to find that it had a large black logo of a grill manufacturer on the side of it. I used a rubbing compound and LOTS of elbow grease and was finally able to get it off. I also had to return one as the top of the pump handle broke off after just a couple of uses. I had no problems with the exchange. Otherwise the product works well and looks great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and good looking, October 30, 2008

Impressively constructed, very good looking and sits well in your hand. We have two as salt and pepper on our kitchen table. They fit the contemporary look.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like it!, May 17, 2008
This review is from: Vic Firth STS06SM01 "Pump & Grind" Salt Mill, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I have this and the pepper grinder and like both. Actually the salt one puts out much more salt per push, but either way they work well, look nice and have a good weight / feel to them. They are small enough to slip into your pocket or take with you. Neat little invention!

3.0 out of 5 stars Grinds Too Well... Lots of Salt - Have to start sideways, April 24, 2008

1. I have the pepper version so decided to get the salt version.
2. Although adjustable for salt size (no instructions) you just change how screwed on the base is. So you have to figure out this part.
3. One pump puts out a lot of salt...I mean a lot...so often grind into my hand and then use that to measure out my salt
4. Doesn't grind from a straight up and down position. You have to pretty much hold it at a 45 degree angle to start the first grind (salt too hard for start-up) and then you can angle it downwards more from then on...but remember...lots of salt comes out, so maybe don't need to grind much more.
5. Mine came with 'WEBER GRILL' and a logo printed on the side of it. This obviously was from a promotion that they had too many of and decided to throw it into the mix. Wasn't worth sending it back, gonna use rubbing alcohol and steel wool to see if I can get that off.
