Having been a huge fan of Lubasch's first book, I was pleased and surprised to see that she had published another one so soon. I admired the stridence and the power of her debut, and her second book has an equal amount of force. It's a quieter force, informed by maturity and intelligence, as well as love--on a genuine level, without an ounce of sentimentality. The second book is no less erudite and intellectually informed than the first--Lubasch's trademark complexity shines outward here, radiant with enlightenment. The seriousness of the book is contagious--readers will find themselves viewing the world with more intensity after reading her work.
