Biography

Big Boi transformed into his more mature self, Sir Lucious Left Foot, on Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day 2007 and began recording his first stand alone solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty, set to arrive July 6th on Def Jam Recordings. The day carried an extraordinary energy—similar to five years earlier on the same holiday, when Big Boi started working on ... Read more in Amazon's Big Boi Store

Editorial Reviews

2012 solo release from one half of Hip Hop duo Outkast. Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors is Big Boi's second solo album and promises to be just as genre bending and exciting as Big Boi's other projects. Featuring guest appearances from artists like Theophilus London, Little Dragon and Kelly Rowland, TI, and Ludacris.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Outkast Offering . . . Buyer Beware December 17, 2012
By Vee Cel
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great 2nd (or technically 3rd) solo album from Big Boi/Daddy Fat Sacks, etc. It sounds and feels like an Outkast disc without Andre Benjamin. Great artwork for this disc, far more interesting than the cover for Sir Lucious Left Foot...The Son Of Chico Dusty [Explicit]

Raspberries!

As an Outkast fan while I would love to hear a new project but I'll eventually get over it as Big Boi continues to grow musically and put out more solid music.

Buyer Beware:
While Amazon provided this [explicit] version for $5 during a promotional "$5 This Week Only" you should be aware that the Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (Deluxe) [Explicit] version contains 3 additional songs.
15. Higher Res [Explicit] 2:23
16. Gossip [Explicit] 4:09
17. She Said OK [Explicit] 3:57

5.0 out of 5 stars How to make a sophomore album right December 14, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Most follow up albums to an artist usually don't compare to the first one, just like anything else such as movies and video games. Only a few Hip-Hop albums in my opinion could out do the first album like death certificate, Marshall Mathers LP and ATLiens. Which ironic enough Vicious lies is pretty much big boi's solo ATLiens. His first solo album was great and he greatly improved that which makes this an outstanding LP. I heard the song "Mama told me" last month and got me very excited for this album. It's still my favorite track just because of Kelly's amazing 2 verses on the song. Big Boi stated in an interview about how this wasn't just a new Hip Hop album but a great music album for anyone. I totally agree, just like when Outkast was together, Big Boi experiments with many genres and styles of music. A quality lacking in modern Hip-Hop and modern even modern music. He successfully mixes many genres in there. Even includes some slowed down beats like Thom Pettie, The thickets and She hates me. Being a Hip Hop head and liking up beat instrumental and ferocious lines it's amazing I still enjoyed these songs. Big Boi has a very wavy and silky smooth flow. I couldn't really hate any track even though I liked more than others Like Mama told me, In the A, Gossip, Apple of my eye and lines. So many guests appear on here like kid cudi, Ludacris, ASAP Rocky, Kelly Rowland, Big Krit, UGK, and so many more. All of them really add something to the whole experiences. From the unique album cover art to the meanings of the songs everything is spectacular. I would suggest Hip Hop fans and even fans of electronic, R&B and even rock may enjoy this. This is a perfect example of an album done right. Fitting Guest artists, Nice flow, Interesting lyrics, risk taking, Compelling beats and most of all EFFORT!Big Boi put his all into this and it shows that he has much talent, experience, and dedication. Don't illegally download this. Order the deluxe edition or go out and buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! December 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Big Boi's sophomore album is a melodic and atmospheric experience laden with guests from diverse genres; Kelly Rowland on the sunny Prince-channeling lead-off single "Mama Told Me", Kid Cudi on the languid "She Hates Me", and Indie band Little Dragon on the ominous "Thom Pettie" (with slowed-down vocals), the trippy piano/guitar-driven "Descending", and appearing on the deluxe edition "Higher Res" (skeletal with drum patterns criss crossing all over).

"The Thickets" features Sleepy Brown and is an enchanting mid tempo groove and the lines "Yo, it seems just like yesterday, where did the time go? I'm giving you the best that I got". "Apple Of My Eye" is bouncy and furiously catchy. The quirky "Objectum Sexuality" features Indie duo Phantogram and a spoken French section and sounds like something his Outkast bandmate André 3000 would record. Phantogram appear again on the sleek "CPU", as well as the swirling twinkling "Lines". "Shoes For Running features B.o.B. and Wavves with martial beats and a light Rock edge.

Other standouts are the plodding "Raspberries" (featuring Mouche and Scar), "Tremendous" (featuring Bosko), and the soulful "She Said Ok" with Theophilus London and Tre Luce (with rather saucy lyrics and appearing on the deluxe edition). His skipping from genre to genre may put off some, but what a wacky and wonderful ride this is.

It's your boy B-I-G B-O-I. Very cool and different album by Big Boi, love the tracks with phantogram. Can't wait until Big Boi and Andrew re-unite. It will happen.

Always been a fan of Outkast. Big Boi keeps up the forward progress of bringing in different beats and themes and exploring avenues other artist want attempt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic
This is a classic cd. This is bigger then hiphop. If only this was an OutKast LP, this would be all over the radio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful and more mellow than I thought it would be
Big Boi is turning out some great solo work, and this is another example. It is a little more mellow than his last album, but it does have a really great jam, "In The A". Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Less rapping, but still a great listen
This is a fun album that Big Boi has whipped together. As the title mentions, there is less rapping on the other half of Outkast second LP, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good album
Was expecting big things after his debut solo album. But Big Boi really misses the mark here. Too many electronic-sounding songs with no relevance to hip-hop.
