This review is from: The Vicious White Kids: Live in Concert (Audio CD)
In many ways, this was a coda for the UK punk scene that was built on the furious fast times of the Sex Pistols. The one-off gig featured Sid Vicious (lead vocals), Glen Matlock (bass), Steve New (guitar), Rat Scabies (drums) and Nancy Spungen (backing vocals), who had her microphone "mysteriously" turned off after rehearsals showed that her vocal abilities were lacking.

The band's name was from an amalgamation of projects by the members and the gig took place on August 15, 1978, in the Electric Ballroom. Sid sings with motivation - and minus the tough guy posturing - though one audience member tried to bait him into a fight. Matlock, New and Scabies deliver a solid performance, with New adding a knockout punch as Sid rips through "My Way."

The interview track of Matlock and Scabies is outstanding, as the pair provide important recollections of Sid, the legacy of punk rock and how the concert became a reality. The photographs obviously focus on Sid, though there is no real attempt to chronicle the gig. The sound quality is good for material that has been released under a variety of titles over the years; but the interview puts this edition on top.
