Basic Vaporizer at a good price,

Works fine though with small capacity; runs for 8-9 hours. Compact for easy storage and a good value (I paid $11.96) for a basic vaporizer. When you first insert the heating element it tends to float up but then settles into place as the water seeps in. (It lacks a lock or screw tight mechanism.) We have used this overnight in our bedroom when fighting a cold. You may need to add baking soda to make it work faster depending on the level of minerals in your water.

~*~*~HAVE A SICK BABY?(please read)~USED IN OUR GIRLS NURSERY OVER A YEAR~STEAMS FAST~LOTS OF STEAM~*~*~,
This review is from: Vicks Nursery 1 Gallon Vaporizer with Night-Light (Health and Beauty)
My girls are 14 months old and we have been using the same Vicks Vaporizer since my girls were around 2 months old, they both got colds so my husband picked one of these up at our local store.
It started steaming in a few minutes and there was a lot of steam. We had our girls at the Dr and he said it was only a virus so he said we could give them saline nose drops & use a vaporizer. Having a vaporizor really does make a difference when you have a cold and since there is not usually a lot you can do for babies I definately recommend getting one. The 1st night they got sick & we didn't have the vaporizor my girls coughed a lot more but once we had it they coughed a lot less. Since then my girls have been sick what seems like close to a Billion times. This has been used a ton of times & we've never had a problem with it, always heats up fast & gives lots of steam. Helpful things we use when our girls are sick since you can't give babies many things. *Vaporizer-safe for any age *Saline Nose Drops-we used @ 2 months but you should ask your Dr *Vicks BABYRub-3 months & up *Johnsons Soothing Vapor Bath-3 months & up *Hylands C-Plus Cold Tablets-1 year & up The 1 Gallon Vaporizer usually doesn't have enough water to steam all night(my girls sleep 11-12hrs) but it steams enough the majority of the night when I think they need it most(if you want it to steam longer buy the 1 1/2 gallon vicks). If I go in their room during the night I can tell a HUGE difference compared to our room, their room is comfy/warm & easy to breathe ***If this doesn't steam within 10 minutes all you have to do is add salt. Also, if you get buildup or residue inside all you have to do is soak it in white vingar-DO NOT PLUG IT IN-we had some buildup when I let this sit with water for over a month(I forgot) so I soaked it in vinegar water for several hours & rinsed it very well. It was pretty clean with very minor residue left inside. Had I let it soak in the vinegar longer it would have gotten all of it out, that is what I remember my parents doing when I was little.

We've tried many vaporizers, but this one works wonderfully in many ways.
Water tends not to get as many particles after a full days use as smaller units for some reason Night light nice but not too bright. Unit fits perfectly in bathroom sink to be refilled. Mine operates for about 15 or 16 hours before it needs to be refilled!

I bought this vaporizer several weeks ago. I feel better after I use this. It created steam very fast (about 2-3 minutes after plugging). You may have to fill some salt to make it create a lot of steam. However, a lot of steam means the water will decrease rapidly so if you want to use this vick for a long time(about 12-20 hours), you may not need to use salt.

It works quite well and keeps the air moist. It also makes very little noise. However, I ended up replacing it with a more expensive($49) model. Here are some of the features I would have liked.
1. There is no easy way to tell how much water is left, short of popping the top off. More expensive models let you see how much water is left. This was the most annoying feature for me. 2. To replace the water, you have to take the top off, set it to the side, and carry the bottom part to a water source. More expensive models let you detach a water holder and fill that. 3. On switch is on the cord. It just makes me nervous handling water and reaching for the power cord. However, it does do the job! If you want more features, get a more expensive model. If not, this is a great device for the price.

We bought two of these...one for the nursery and one for our room. I decided on this one based on several reviews that it would last about 8 hours before needing a refill. For us, that's not even close to what we're getting. It needs to be refilled in about 3 hours for us. Bummer. So I'm back to shopping for something with a bigger capacity. I just want one that lasts through a night of sleeping.

I didn't want to deal with the hassle of humidifiers & filters so I purchased this low priced vaporizer. It worked great in the bedroom for about 3 months, after that it just didn't steam much.

I really love my vicks vaporizer! The air in my house has been so dry this winter with the heater and all. So my nose was just so dry. By the 3rd bloody nose this winter, I was fed up. So I searched around and found this. The reviews were good, so decided to buy it. I am very pleased and my nose is no longer dry or hurts anymore. Some nights I will even add a few drops of the essential oil eucalyptus. And that helps me breathe pretty good throughout the night.

Good, basic vaporizor, but don't expect it to significantly increase the humidity in your room. I only get a three percent increase with the doors closed.

I like the Vicks steam vaporizer over any cool air humidifier because I never need to worry about mold. Sometimes, I put eucalyptus oil in the water and it fills the air to help the congestion. I've used Vicks vaporizers for the last 30 years and use it now for my son. It provides great relief for any type of congestion.
The only negative to this particular Vicks vaporizer is it's a little smaller than other ones that I've used. Therefore, I find myself refilling it more frequently. |
