This review is from: Vicks VapoSteam Cough Suppressant, Camphor, 8 oz. (Health and Beauty)
This product helped my 3 year old son with a nasty cough sleep during the night and a nap mid-day. His cough was so bad for 3 days he was not sleeping at night and he could not fall asleep for his daily 3 hour nap. We tried giving him honey, childrens tylenol before he went down, but he would not fall asleep. You put 1 tbsp per quart of water used in the Vicks vaporizer. It mixed with the water and came out as steam in his room. Going in his room there was a very heavy vicks smell, but it did the trick. He slept an hour past his usual wake up time this morning, and just now he slept an hour and a half later than he usually does for his nap. Highly recommended since you can't give your kids cold medicine at this young age.
Used this mixed in the water with the Vicks 1.5 Gallon Vaporizer with Night-Light

I bought a vics vaporizer (1.5 gallon) & it worked wonderfully with vics vapo steam. Vapo steam instructions say to use 10 tablespoons. that makes the room overpowering. (we're in an average to large bedroom). I used half. 5 tablespoons of vics vaposteam in the 1.5 gallon vaporizor filled to the max with water worked perfectly. PERFECTLY. it wasn't overpowering & it did the trick. besides, vaposteam is expensive ($9 plus tax at walgreens) 10 tablespoons of vics vaposteam is almost half the container. So since I like 5 tablespoons, that's going to be four uses out of each container of vaposteam. $10 every 4 nights. that's going to get expensive. Anyhow, it worked great! my son has croup & my daughter has an awful cold. without steam vaporizers & the vapo steam they coughed all night. with the steam vaporizer (& I put vics vaposteam in it) they slept so well. I think the vaporizer alone wouldn't have suppressed the cough had I not put the expensive vaposteam in. I'm definitely buying it again but I'm so annoyed at how expensive it is.
