I bought this book (volume 1) when it first came out and was hooked. It covers General Grant's failed overland offensive to take Vicksburg. It then begins the famous river campaign. It covers the fighting on both sides of the river as he advanced south. I have all three volumes in my library and consider these the best for this campaign.
