Book Description

August 15, 2006
Terri Baker, a well established lawyer has grown up in the eyes of her father as a perfect person. Once he passed away, she felt a void in her life and she has been looking for a man who viewed her as a perfect woman ever since. While her sister, Kira and childhood friend, Mya tried constantly to upset her balance in life, her fiance, Darnell Davis was the only man that could fill Terri's void and keep her grounded. He was the head of an advertising agency and went above and beyond to please his clients as well as his woman. He believed that there was no room for deception in their relationship and expected Terri to do nothing more than honor his beliefs. Terri tried very hard to remain truthful and continue to be that perfect woman in his eyes but at the same time her selfish ways destroyed their relationship as well as others. Unfortunately, Terri had a secret that could affect her life forever. She was unable to conceive a child and she was afraid Darnell would find out and leave her. As she desperately tried to keep this from him, Darnell found out and everything blew up in her face before she had the chance to eradicate the situation. But that was the least of Terri's troubles. Darnell had a little secret of his own. A secret so devastating that it will destroy lives forever. Will this cause their perfect union to end? Who will be the one to fall victim to trust?

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

A very promising debut novel about moral self-awareness, emotion, and betrayal of trust. The veracity of the storyline and the characters keeps the reader wanting more. At one time or another, everyone has been a victim of trust. Nikiya's refreshing debut sweeps readers off their feet and into the character’s lives allowing complete correlation.

Nikiya Celestin presents identifiable characters and situations, which allows the reader to form their own views about each character. The passion, as well as the shocking actions they present to each other was very authentic. The characters are not that different from most of us. Sexy, intense filled, and psychologically perceptive to human emotion, Victim of Trust breaks through literary and social boundaries with fresh style and serious situations. This novel is a must read!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Painful Read, September 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Victim of Trust (Perfect Paperback)
This book would have been okay but it needed some serious editing. Most of the writing was inconsistent. The author went from telling the story in past tense to present tense and many times used the wrong tense, which made it a difficult read. This was very frustrating for me. I do not recommend this book and I will not read anymore novels by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who Can You Really Trust?, July 2, 2007
This review is from: Victim of Trust (Perfect Paperback)
Terri Baker, a famous attorney for the starts thought she was on top of her game. She had it all, an attractive fiancé Darnell Davis, also a best friend by the name of Mya. Terri and Mya have been best friends since they were 12 years old. They went to the same schools, and went to the same Ivy-league university. Terri trusted Mya with every detail of her life. There was only one thing that Terri didn't know. Mya was jealous of her. In Victim of Trust, Terri will soon remember the advice her late father told her. " Keep you friends close, but keep your enemies closer." Soon Terri's life will start to crumble right in front of her, and she feels hopeless. Will she be able to recover from all of the disasters that have happened to her or will she fall apart?

Victim of Trust starts off a little slow, but if you keep reading, you will not be able to put it down. In my opinion, I thought the author gave too much detail to things that really were not important. The book flowed very well. The characters in the book are people that you could relate to, and you probably know someone like them ( I know I do). Victim of Trust is very sexy, intense, and full of emotions. I would recommend this to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust...Is it there?, June 17, 2007
This review is from: Victim of Trust (Perfect Paperback)
Nikiya Celestin told a powerful story of love, friendship and trust in her novel "Victim Of Trust". It was a well written story of friends trusting friends, couples trusting each other. It also dealt with a large amount of jealously. The end had took a surprising turn. I wasn't at all expecting that! Her charcters were lively and easy to picture. Trust? Is it there? A great read.
