Biography

Many consider Gary Moore to be one of the most underappreciated guitarists in rock music, particularly in America where he has barely made an impression at all. Nonetheless he is often cited as an influence on the work of many other notable guitarists including Ozzy Osbourne’s axeman Randy Rhoads, and his fortunes are interweaved with the success of other well-considered artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guitar- heavy songs, tuneful melodies, and brilliant soloing, December 8, 1998
By
This review is from: Victims of the Future (Audio CD)
Gary Moore has often been labelled one of the best unknown guitarists in the world, though his career covers many years and a number of famous collaborations (Thin Lizzy, Albert Collins, Ozzy Osbourne, etc). His more recent recordings have been heavily blues-based, and only offer slight insights into the heavy rock songs that "Victims" holds. Moore's playing on "Victims" is breath-taking... his melodic, fast and furious soloing is as good as anybody's was in the 1980s. I saw Moore live in Germany at the Monsters of Rock in support of this album, and was so impressed by his performance that I immediately bought it after the show. The title track and "Murder in the Skies" stand out in this regard. Moore has an innate sense of rhythm with a strong supporting band, and sings soulfully throughout. For those of you looking for great guitar playing (as a guitarist myself, I can recommend this CD with total enthusiasm) and solid heavy rock songwriting, this is the CD for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Make sure you pick up the remastered version with "Devil In Her Heart.", February 9, 2003
This review is from: Victims of the Future (Audio CD)
This CD has two versions, "The US version" and the remastered import version, which contains "Devil In Her Heart." Funny thing is, I have a cassette of this album that I bought at a discount store back in 1983, and that song was included on the initial release. Why did they delete this great song when they began to manufacture CDs in the late 1980's? The remastered version also includes "Blinder" and an extended version of "Empty Rooms."

5.0 out of 5 stars The master of the guitar, May 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Victims of the Future (Audio CD)
Folks, let me introduce to you one of the most underappreciated guitarist of all time. If you are a guitar player, listening to this will make you want to throw your guitar in the floor in disgust. Mr. Moore doesn't play around, he has an unbelievable fire behind his guitar playing. And his vocals aren't bad either. Favorite songs are Victims of the Future, Shapes of Things, Empty Rooms, Hold On To Love, and the incredible Murder In The Skies. Warning: this CD may cause your CD player to smoke!
