I was hoping that this collection would have some new stuff and was glad to see that it's filled with these really early live TV shows that I hadn't seen before. (Actually, I didn't even know he HAD his own TV show in 1951.) Borge does repeat some of the bits in other shows, but all in all, it's great fun to watch him so (comparatively) young, doing his thing. I saw him at Carnegie Hall during his 75th birthday tour and he still had "it." Some of the sketches on this show seem almost surreal or absurd in a Kovacs kind of way. And it's a kick to see Art Carney just before Honeymooners.

The quality of the sound (the pictures are good enough) is not very high. Perhaps it isn't more to expect of a TV-show produced in the early 50's, but I expected better. Also I would say that Mr. Borge was much funnier later in his career. I have another DVD: "The Victor Borge Collection" which is a collection of his best acts and there he is much older in most of the sketches than in those from "The Victor Borge Show Collection" and I have to say; he is also way funnier. Nevertheless, he is certainly funny sometimes here also.

This set shows what TV was like in its earliest days, a window into the past. This is sooo great! Quit shopping you found what you need, the ultimate Victor Borge.

Victor Borge DVDs will provide you with hours of intelligent entertainment, whether you're a music enthusiast or not. His humor is wonderful -- and he's a brilliant musician. He combines both talents in a unique manner. Even after you've watched his performances several times, you'll still laugh at his antics.

Very hard to hear and understand the dialog, the video not that good, and the material was not Borge-level quality. Even includes the original ads for sponsor Kellog's Cereals.

It's very hard to hear what is being said. The film is just too old to reproduce properly.

I only gave 4 stars due to the quality ofthe viewing, but the content was proof that today's humour has lost the down right funiness of past era's rib tickling situations, with none of today's sick smut!

My elderly mother is a huge Borge fan and I gave this to her for Christmas, but after watching one, was sorry I had. There wasn't enough piano/comedy, too much lame sketch "comedy," and through one entire DVD, I didn't so much as chuckle once. If I had been able to view it before buying, I would definitely have moved on to something else.
Oddly, the one thing I found interesting was the early 50s Kellogg commercials.

We love Victor Borge and these are fun for the money. They are all black and white. I must say this collection is not half as funny as his later comedies...but still worth the cost I think.

My friends are a fan of Victor Borge and love his materials. There are very old materials in this series of which the had not been acquainted with and they were pleased. Since they were happy I am happy!
