I See Dead Mice!,

Have a place in the country that mice just love. Had used the one mouseelectronic trap by Victor but if you cannot check it every day the mouse would decay and you ended up tossing the whole thing away, not cheap. So upgraded with two of these traps, one for the main floor and another for the attic. They have been in only for a few days and they are great, both have caught mice and could not be more pleased with a product. Now I can be gone for a week or two and problem is solved. Hope to update this review again and see how they work long term but so far a top notch product. Now March of 2011 and one unit has stopped working the other is still doing its job.

I have both the M260 Multi-Kill and the Victor Electronic Rat TrapVictor Electronic Rat Trap and the Rat trap, kills both mice and rats. Although the M260 is multikill mice rarely ever go inside. Even though the Rat trap is a single kill, before emptying, I have killed 20+ mice with the Rat trap and only one mouse with the multi-Kill. Rather that waste my money again on the multikill I would purchase several of the single kills, and if necessary, place them side by side or in multiple locations.

I've been using this trap for a little over a month now, and I am completely sold. Not only is it very easy to set up and monitor, the results are pretty amazing. Mice seem unable to resist the lure, and the brilliant trap design ensures that once they come in they don't come out. The little pests are disposed of in a quick, painless, and humane manner. No mess, no fuss.In my opinion, the folks at Victor have designed a MUCH better mousetrap!

We don't know if any mice visited the Electronic Mouse Trap, but if they did, the batteries had probably already been depleted and wouldn't have shocked any visitors. We couldn't afford to keep installing new batteries to give it more time to see if it would kill anthing other than batteries. It could possibly work better as a plug-in device if available. We had great hopes but were disappointed and returned the item.

After moving out to the country to our "dream" home, the first winter here I realized we were sharing our home with MICE! We have tried all types of traps and they are disgusting! We have cats (they do catch a mouse here and there, also disgusting) so we did not want to use poisons. The major problem is in the basement, but I started to see signs of activity upstairs. We ordered our first Victor M-260 and gave it a try. I wanted to order 2 but we wanted to see if it would work first. After reading other reviews we followed some of their tips like baiting the steps etc. The first night we caught 0. We were disapointed. Then we tried to think like a mouse and the second night placed it sideways along the wall where they run along the wall edge and then scoot under the heat vents. We caught 8 !!! Then 6's then 4's then 1 or 2 a night...until we hit 30! Sad yes...but I can not share my house with mice. We ordered a second Victor to keep upstairs and we keep one downstairs to catch any new visitors! If at first it doesn't work, change how and where you have it placed. It is easy and you don't have to touch anything gross!

Victor M260 Electronic Mouse Trap,

I have a barn, in which I have a lot of mice. I purchased Victor I and baited it with cheese. No mice for two weeks. I bought peanut butter and baited Victor I. No mice for a week. The following week, I dabbed peanut butter on the ramps. That lured a mouse inside. One mouse. I was elated. It was so nice to slide out the tray and dump the mice where barn cats or coyotes could eat it, without getting poisoned. I dabbed more peanut butter on the ramps, and on Thursday morning, I saw that Victor I caught another mouse. I decided to empty Victor that evening, and when I pulled the tray out, I couldn't count all the mice. I took the tray outside and dumped the mice. There were ten. If I was elated before, I was ecstatic, and went around saying, "I'm the great mouse catcher. Well, Victor is, but I bought him." I rebaited Victor I, and I dropped him. Well, that ended Victor I's life, but I don't regret spending $9 per mouse, because I didn't have to mess with traps with the potential for catching a leg or snout. I ordered another Victor (Victor II), because of the success and ease of dealing with dead mice that Victor I provided me. I highly recommend this model Victor electronic mouse trap. Sincerely, Cindy (With Victor II, I'll once again be the Great Mouse Catcher!)

Works GREAT!,

I have had my Victor M260 Multi-Kill unit for almost a year now. I live in the country - a nice home situated in a wooded setting. Lots of pretty birds, dear frequently roam... it's great. Unfortunately, the "wooded setting" is also home for some unwanted little critters. During the summer months, things are pretty normal with them minding their own business living where ever they live out in the woods. So long as they stay away and out of sight I'm fine with this... they don't bother me, and I don't bother them. When it starts getting cold however, they see my garage as a nice warm place to relocate for the winter - and that's when the war begins! No more Mr. Nice Guy. In year's past, I have probably used every kind of mouse trap ever made. I used the original Victor wooden/wire snap trap most of all. I used the newer plastic easy-to-set snap traps (several styles), glue traps, etc. Like most people, I hate setting them, and I hate emptying them. Upon their first use, they transform from being a clean device to handle to a filthy, disease-ridden unit often containing bits of fur, blood, or other reminants to be avoided like the plague - pun intended! However, as much as I hate mice, I really don't enjoy killing them. I respect life and love animals. I don't want them to suffer (and many have). But despite their cute big eyes and ears, mice are dirty, carry diseases, are mindless and relentless. They poop and pee everywhere they go - spreading their filth. Since you can't ask them to leave, or negotiate with them - it is simply a necessary thing to do, and all the PETA people can just let their heads explode over it! Having said all that, I have always been looking for a "better mouse trap" that somehow eliminates the issues I described. This is the trap! So far, I have killed over 35 mice (not that I'm counting or anything...). It has been 100% effective - no wounded mice, and no fur, blood, poop, or pee. At first I smeared a big gob of peanut butter (the universal bait) only in the main chamber as described to attract them into it. But I didn't catch any mice. I then decided to put a dab of peanut butter on a few of the steps to better attract them and let them eat their way up them - leading them to the "mother load" inside the chamber. That works. After arming the unit, I simply check to see if the green light is flashing - letting me know a mouse(s) has be "taken care of". I open the drawer and there it (or they) are, peacefully dead with a full last meal in their tummy, and ready to be returned to the woods as food for something higher up in the food chain. I love how the kill chamber rotates and drops the unlucky mouse into the drawer and then re-arms itself! I have had as many as 3 in the drawer. So if you go through similar battles with mice as I do, I highly recommend that you consider buying this unit. For me it has been well worth the extra investment, and it has been 100% reliable from a mechanical, electrical - and killable basis.

A better way to dispatch a mouse,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The Victor Multi-kill electronic mousetrap is a touch-free, mouse electrocution device. The trap is 9 1/4" long x 5 1/4" tall x 4 1/2" deep, and resembles a black, dome-top lunch box.The way it works is that you install 4 "C" batteries (included), bait it by putting a pea-size blob of peanut butter on a certain spot inside the trap, and then place it against a wall that mice are known to run along. The back of the trap features two, tiny mouse stairways where the mice enter the trap. They must walk across electrified metal plates to reach the peanut butter, and they are electrocuted before they reach it. Then, the little mouse corpses drop down through the floor into a receptacle drawer, which you pull out from the front to empty. NOTE: this is only for mice. It will not accommodate rats and I doubt the electrical charge would be strong enough to kill a rat. There is an on/off switch on the front of the trap. An indicator light above the switch tells you when the device is on, if the device has killed a mouse, if the rodent receptacle is full, if the batteries are low, or if there is a problem with the device. The owners manual explains the different blinking patterns of the indicator light. The manual states the rodent receptacle will hold up to 10 dead mice, but I think 5 or 6 is more accurate unless they are tiny, tiny mice. The drawer comes out easily and you never have to touch the mice. The manual also suggests that you turn the trap off and wipe down the electrocution plates after every 10 kills with a damp cloth - no soaps or cleansers. Soaps and cleansers are often scented, which mice will generally avoid. I placed this trap in my tool shed, which I know to be frequented by mice occasionally. Sure enough, within a couple of days, the indicator light told me a mouse had been dispatched! I pulled out the drawer and found a dead mouse. (I was glad to note there was no blood or mangling of the corpse like there is with snap-style mouse traps.) I am pleased with this trap. I have children and pets so I don't want to use snap-traps or mouse poison. The glue traps seem too cruel if you let the mouse remain stuck til he starves or dies of dehydration. This trap is quick and seems to be as humane as possible. I dislike killing little creatures and try hard to make my home and outbuildings rodent-proof, but if they manage to get in, I want them gone for fear of diseases they spread. The only way this device could be better is if it just made the mice leave. Recommended.

Works as Advertised,

Absolutely works as advertized. The instructions could be a little more insightful - like make sure you place it against the wall. The first night I put it in the middle of the floor with no results. Then I put it against the wall near where I knew the mice were active so as to create little 'doorways' at the foot of the ramps. I followed the advice of a different happy reviewer and dabbed a tiny bit of peanut butter on the ramps and caught between one and three mice a night for about five nights and then nothing. I then tested by leaving untrapped PB on the floor which was uneaten next day. I'm am 100% confident my mouse problem is gone. Not the Victor M260 - that stays and Its armed and ready...
