Ultrasonic waves
The high-frequency ultrasound prompts rats to leave without causing them harm.
Easily and Effectively Rids Your Home of Mice and Rats
No fuss or mess--the Victor Heavy-Duty Sonic PestChaser does all the work. Just plug the 6-foot power cord into regular wall outlet and then place the unit in the ideal location. Field tests conducted for the Canadian Registration showed a marked reduction in rodent activity in an average of 6 to 10 days. The PestChaser's high-frequency ultrasound doesn't kill rodents, but rather creates an environment that is uncomfortable for them, so they simply leave. Its complex, non-repetitive frequency features multiple peaks between 32 and 62 kHz, so rodents don't have the chance to get used to the sound.

Safe for You and Your Pets
The ultrasonic sound waves are completely inaudible to people, dogs, cats, birds, and fish (PestChaser should not be used around pet rodents). Since you won't hear anything, a red LED light behind the speaker grill lets you know that the PestChaser is working properly. The Heavy-Duty PestChaser is kinder than traps and safer than poison. By eliminating the need to empty traps, PestChaser minimizes human contact with disease-bearing rodents.

One Unit Covers an Average Room
This device is ideal for large-sized rooms, including kitchens, garages, attics, and basements. Ultrasonic sound cannot go around corners or penetrate hard surfaces like furniture, cabinets, walls, or ceilings. You will need one PestChaser unit for each room where you have a rodent problem.

Inexpensive and Long-Lasting
The Heavy-Duty PestChaser costs less than one cent a day to operate on a 24-hour basis, so you don't have to worry about keeping it plugged in at all times. The estimated service life of each unit is 5 to 7 years, and many PestChasers are still working after 10 or more years. Throughout that time, no adjustment or service is ever required.

Product Description

With more than 2 times the power output of standard ultrasonic pest control units, this is the most powerful electronic pest control device in the market. Emits high frequency sound waves that effectively repel rodents from protected areas. For use in larger rooms, kitchens, garages, attics and basements. 6-foot cord enables ideal placement. The sound is completely inaudible to people and non-rodent pets. Varying intensity and frequencies of ultrasonic sound waves prevents rodents from getting used to the Victor Sonic PestChaser. Since the sound is inaudible, a red LED light tells you the unit is working properly. It's kinder than traps, safer than poisons, and there are no dead rodents to dispose of, so it minimizes human contact with mice, rats, and other disease-bearing rodents. Reduction in rodent activity should occur within 6-10 days. Estimated service life of the unit is 5-7 years or more. Note: Ultrasonic sound cannot penetrate furniture, cabinets or walls. Multiple units required for multiple rooms.

Beware the unit does emit an audible high frequency buzzing noise - too loud to use in a bedroom.

I lived in an outbuilding in the middle of a garden with trees and my landlord's horrible woodpile...or rather his rat pile. Tired of his useless trapping efforts, I bought and used several types of sonic repellers which finally helped me solve my problem. They also worked for the raccoons, opossums and other critters that bunked under and around my house. Finally I bought this one which I found to be the best for me. They all claim to be inaudible to humans although I can hear a sound, especially with the ones that plug into the wall and use the wiring. The sound didn't bother me, but it bothered one woman at work a lot. Most people didn't hear anything. I found this one to be the quietest and also the most powerful of the ones I tried. I aimed this device at the source of any sounds (nighttime gnawing or scratching) and they would go away. Mice and rats would go more quickly, sometimes immediately. Larger animals might try to stick it out for a day. However, they also sometimes showed up in a new corner of the house after some time. I would turn the device that way and resolve the issue. Later I bought more than one and stayed pretty much alone for a change! I have recommended these to many people including the Orkin man who didn't want to hear about it.

The manufacturer explains that ultrasound will help to decrease rodents but not to get rid of all which is truth specially if the creatures are living in between walls and they also got accommodated inside of your house compared to the harsh weather or lack of food outdoors.

I've been reviewing one product after another and each new one I try I learn more about. With that my recent product reviews about rodent traps/repellents gets more information.

Well, the basic everybody knows: cut the source of food and close all holes you find around the house (inside and outside) but nobody tells the whole story which is:

1. Cats:
Unfortunately I have birds so I can't take the risk to have a cat. Rodents' frequency range is very high and neither a dog can't hear. On the other hand, cat hearing ability overlaps part of the rodent's frequancy range so that's why they are excellent hunter when it comes to mice/rats.
If you see a cat starring at a hole where where you knew rodents lived, maybe the cat knows there is still rodents there because it can hear them.
Because of this overlap of cat's hearing, you also need to do some research on the frequency that the ultrasound repellent device issues because it could affect the cat (I don't know how, I never found a person that complained about after some research).
So cats are the good mobile mice trap but also repellent as the urine of the cat will also make the rodents think twice to invade your house. Maybe a crazy or desperate starving and cold one will take the risk but for sure will have to face the cat hunt game.

2. Peppermint and Clove Oil:
They do work. Most of internet advise tells you to soak a cotton with the oil and place where the mouse is.
Wrong!

We have an ongoing problem with squirrels up in our attic. They come twice a year to have babies then , they're gone. We tried another electronic pest control, rat poison mixed with peanut butter, BB gun, pellet gun, air gun. Nothing worked. We also cleaned the nests and sprayed chlorox. We saw this at one of the big box home improvement store during one of our shopping trips. We bought it out of desperation. We got 4 and placed them in 4 corners of our attic. The squirrels are gone! It has been 2 months and still nothing. If anything changes I will update this review. But for now, I highly recommend this product.

We suddenly had a lot of mouse droppings in our garage--mostly up the middle between the cars on a long piece of carpet we use for a mat. Tried glue traps, and then snap traps with peanutbutter, and caught nothing, with new droppings every morning. Got this Pest Chaser, read the directions carefully, and placed it on the floor in the corner next to the garage door so that one speaker pointed straight across the entire width of the door, which caused the other speaker to point 90 degrees along the side wall. There was nothing to block the sound waves. The first morning, the droppings were drastically reduced, and the next morning there were none! We've had it for over 2 weeks now, and have have no more evidence of visitors. Read the directions carefully--you'll find that placement is critical as the high frequency sound waves are easily deflected or absorbed, and don't fill the room like audible ones.

Verified Purchase
I was very skeptical after reading the other reviews. I purchased it and then ended up purchasing an electronic Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra as well. I put the pest chaser on a shelf and enjoyed the novelty of electrocuting the nuisance pests for awhile. I am living in a fifth wheel trailer in the middle of nowhere on a job site and the rodent population seems to be never-ending (They loved the basement of my trailer. I would catch on average 8 rodents a week for 3 straight months). I had to leave for 2 weeks near Christmas and was worried about not being able to empty the electronic traps so I opened up the pest chaser and plugged it in. It is now February and I have not caught a single rodent in any of the traps (electronic or regular). That's proof enough for me. I would highly recommend this device.
