Ultrasonic waves
The high-frequency ultrasound prompts rats to leave without causing them harm.
Easily and Effectively Rids Your Home of Mice and Rats
No fuss or mess--the Victor Heavy-Duty Sonic PestChaser does all the work. Just plug the 6-foot power cord into regular wall outlet and then place the unit in the ideal location. Field tests conducted for the Canadian Registration showed a marked reduction in rodent activity in an average of 6 to 10 days. The PestChaser's high-frequency ultrasound doesn't kill rodents, but rather creates an environment that is uncomfortable for them, so they simply leave. Its complex, non-repetitive frequency features multiple peaks between 32 and 62 kHz, so rodents don't have the chance to get used to the sound.

Safe for You and Your Pets
The ultrasonic sound waves are completely inaudible to people, dogs, cats, birds, and fish (PestChaser should not be used around pet rodents). Since you won't hear anything, a red LED light behind the speaker grill lets you know that the PestChaser is working properly. The Heavy-Duty PestChaser is kinder than traps and safer than poison. By eliminating the need to empty traps, PestChaser minimizes human contact with disease-bearing rodents.

One Unit Covers an Average Room
This device is ideal for large-sized rooms, including kitchens, garages, attics, and basements. Ultrasonic sound cannot go around corners or penetrate hard surfaces like furniture, cabinets, walls, or ceilings. You will need one PestChaser unit for each room where you have a rodent problem.

Inexpensive and Long-Lasting
The Heavy-Duty PestChaser costs less than one cent a day to operate on a 24-hour basis, so you don't have to worry about keeping it plugged in at all times. The estimated service life of each unit is 5 to 7 years, and many PestChasers are still working after 10 or more years. Throughout that time, no adjustment or service is ever required.

Product Description

With more than 2 times the power output of standard ultrasonic pest control units, this is the most powerful electronic pest control device in the market. Emits high frequency sound waves that effectively repel rodents from protected areas. For use in larger rooms, kitchens, garages, attics and basements. 6-foot cord enables ideal placement. The sound is completely inaudible to people and non-rodent pets. Varying intensity and frequencies of ultrasonic sound waves prevents rodents from getting used to the Victor Sonic PestChaser. Since the sound is inaudible, a red LED light tells you the unit is working properly. It's kinder than traps, safer than poisons, and there are no dead rodents to dispose of, so it minimizes human contact with mice, rats, and other disease-bearing rodents. Reduction in rodent activity should occur within 6-10 days. Estimated service life of the unit is 5-7 years or more. Note: Ultrasonic sound cannot penetrate furniture, cabinets or walls. Multiple units required for multiple rooms.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Victor M792 Heavy-Duty Sonic PestChaser (Lawn & Patio)
We had some rats in our house. I decided to purchase this so the rat would at least stay out of my room until it was caught. I positioned it as instructed against the wall and I thought it was a perfect because one speaker faced my bedroom door and the other pointed toward the window, both with unobstructed paths. On top of that, my bedroom has wooden floors (ultrasound gets absorbed in carpets and soft surfaces).

Well, I woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of the rat. For those who think the rat was maybe already in my room, let me assure you it wasn't. I then even picked up the victor ultra sound and pointed it toward the rat so maybe the sound would encourage the rat to move to the window and out my house. NOTHING!!! the rat couldn't have cared less!!!

Unfortunately in the process of trying to catch it it ran under my door into the rest of the house. I ended up stuffing a towel under my door, sleeping with the lights on and cuddling with a broom in my arms.

Oh, still hasn't been caught but some bait packages have been nibbled on.

One more thing.. it says that one of the frequencies is a sound of a dominant rat. Does that mean that it just weeds out the less dominant rat so you are stuck with the "stronger" rats in your house?... and then what if those "stronger" rats breed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for us!, October 12, 2010

This review is from: Victor M792 Heavy-Duty Sonic PestChaser (Lawn & Patio)
We suddenly had a lot of mouse droppings in our garage--mostly up the middle between the cars on a long piece of carpet we use for a mat. Tried glue traps, and then snap traps with peanutbutter, and caught nothing, with new droppings every morning. Got this Pest Chaser, read the directions carefully, and placed it on the floor in the corner next to the garage door so that one speaker pointed straight across the entire width of the door, which caused the other speaker to point 90 degrees along the side wall. There was nothing to block the sound waves. The first morning, the droppings were drastically reduced, and the next morning there were none! We've had it for over 2 weeks now, and have have no more evidence of visitors. Read the directions carefully--you'll find that placement is critical as the high frequency sound waves are easily deflected or absorbed, and don't fill the room like audible ones.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Victor M792 Heavy-Duty Sonic PestChaser (Lawn & Patio)
There is absolutely nothing 'silent' about this device. Not sure if it is keeping rodents away either but I have not seen any since installing it. I had one rodent visit before installing it so that could have been a fluke. This unit is only useful in a garage or somewhere you are almost never in since the sound would drive anyone nuts.
