Product Description

Size: Single Unit

The Victor Power Kill Rat Trap is a set and released with one simple “click” rat trap. This one-step open and close mechanism also makes it easy to cleanly dispose of the rodent with no hand contact. The trap was design with a large trough, for easy baiting with any of their favorite foods. The Power Kill’s oversized pedal is easily activated – both by rodent interest in food AND through accidental contact as rats scamper across the floor – to ensure maximum trapping. Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the powerful jaw immediately springs closed for a quick, humane kill on contact. The clean-trapping Victor Power Kill Rat Trap delivers effective and immediate rat control - even in hard to reach places. Each powerful rat trap features two holes on the back for attachment to pipes, beams and other hard-to-access places where rats thrive. Made of highly durable plastic, each rat trap of this twin pack is safe for use around food, water, animals and children and can be reused multiple times to maximize rat control. Victor Power Kill Rat Traps are the perfect for use anywhere in the home. These rat traps should be placed where rodents travel, such as along walls at 2 to 3 foot intervals.

Victor Power-Kill Rat Trap

Reclaim Your Space

Quickly trap and kill rats with Victor’s most powerful solution: the Victor Power-Kill rat trap. The unit features an effective design with a large bait trough and highly sensitive trip pedal. Once contact is made with the pedal, the trap’s High-Impact Kill Bar instantly snaps shut, ensuring a quick kill. Ideal for anywhere rats are not wanted--whether it’s your home, garage, or summer cabin, with the Victor Power-Kill rat trap, problem solved.

Fast. Powerful. Done.

The Victor Power-Kill rat trap’s oversized trip pedal makes it difficult to avoid, which helps promote successful trappings. Whenever a rat steps onto the trip pedal, whether attempting to eat the bait or simply scurrying by, the Power-Kill rat trap will activate. With the trip pedal triggered, the trap’s High-Impact Kill Bar instantly and powerfully springs shut for a quick, immediate kill. The one-step, open-and-close design also makes it easy to dispose of the body—without having to touch it.

Re-Useable or Disposable

Use the indoor/outdoor Victor Power-Kill rat trap anywhere in or around the home. Since it doesn’t require any chemicals or poisons, the trap can be used in homes with children or pets (though use precaution).

The Power-Kill rat trap features durable plastic construction, and it can be reused again and again or disposed of, whichever you prefer. With its easy-to-set one-click mechanism, sensitive trip pedal, and powerful High-Impact Kill Bar, the Power-Kill rat trap means business, making your rat problem a thing of the past.

Details

  • High-Impact Kill Bar ensures a quick, powerful kill
  • Set and release with just 1 click
  • Ample bait trough for easy baiting
  • Large, easily activated trip pedal
  • For indoor/outdoor use; ideal for runway trapping
  • No chemicals or poisons; can be used around kids and pets

Simple to Bait and Use

The bait trough, a cylindrical space in the center of the trip pedal, offers ample room for adding rat snacks to the trap. To set the trap, simply pull the kill bar back until it clicks. This convenient one-click mechanism makes the trap much easier to use compared to other snap traps.

Then set the rat trap anywhere you’ve noticed activity. Each powerful rat trap features two holes on the back for attachment to pipes, beams, and other hard-to-access places where rats thrive. Since rats commonly travel along the edge of a room, where the floor meets the wall, placing the trap with the bait side along the wall helps promote effective results.

(1) These traps are greatly superior to the older wooden traps. They have a larger trigger area. They are easier to load. They are easier to unload. It is almost impossible to snap yourself by mistake with one of these. Something that cannot be said for the old-fashioned ones. It's worth the extra money to buy these, greatly worth it.

(2) One website recommended using gloves to handle the traps. It said that human scent could scare off the rats. I followed that advice.

(3) One website recommended putting the trap out unarmed for a couple of days so the rats could become accustomed to eating from it. I did not follow that advice. The rat noises were keeping us awake, and I did not have the patience. It sounded like good advice though.

(4) I did not catch anything the 1st two nights I had this set. Then I started slicing walnuts and putting them around the traps. The first night I did that, I caught a rat. It is useful to note that all of the walnut pieces surrounding the trap had been eaten, all. So the rat ate all of the 'safe' food, and then went for the peanut butter/oat/walnut paste that I put in the trap.

(5) I also used a Victor Electronic trap. Same procedure worked. I put a trail of sliced walnuts leading to the trap. First night I did put a trail to that trap, I also got a kill.

Score so far: 2 kills for the M144, 1 kill for the Electronic trap. For the squeamish, the Electronic trap is easier to deal with, but some users have reported getting shocked reloading the unit with new batteries.

Without question these traps are much easier to set than the older wooden variety. I really like that about them. Unfortunately the spring is not as strong and/or the bar (swinging through an arc of only 90 degrees as opposed to 180 degrees on the older variety) does not come down with as much force. This results in multiple escapes, often by rats that have been severely wounded. Larger rats have dragged this trap across my yard still very much alive, even when the bar has come down directly across the back of their necks. That's inhumane and it shouldn't be happening. I've used these types of traps for over a year so I've had ample opportunity to see how they work in a variety of settings. Very easy to set, and great for smaller rats, but with larger rats, expect frequent escapes and failures-to-kill, which can be very unpleasant to deal with.

I found a large rat in my kitchen one night so ran out to the only store that was open that late. This was the only rat trap they sold, so I purchased two of them. I baited them both with peanut butter. Later that night I was awoken by the horrible sound of this large rat trap going off. I went into the kitchen to find that the rat had escaped the trap. The second trap had peanut butter missing but never even activated. So I was rudely awoken at 4 am to find two ineffective traps. Very disappointing!

The next day I was very upset and concerned the rat would now be snap trap shy so I figured my only alternative was to spend a lot of money on an electronic rat trap. I purchased the Victor M240 Electronic Rat Trap. I baited it that night with peanut butter and slept through the night. The next morning I awoke and to my surprise I had a clean kill with the electronic trap on the very first night!

If you can afford it, I recommend the electronic rat trap. It is safe, quiet and effective. If you don't want to spend that much then I would recommend trying the old fashioned wooden Victor snap traps. They are more powerful because their "jaws" come down on the rat from a 180 degree angle unlike this plastic trap with only a 90 degree angle. I think the 90 degrees isn't powerful enough to kill most rats and the plastic makes it easier for the rat to slide out of the trap. These cost more because they are plastic and supposedly reusable. But would you really want to reuse a bloody snap trap anyway? That is if it even worked the first time? Save your money and look elsewhere for rat traps, this is not the one.

Bought 3 of these. Two were defective and wouldn't even set. The third one set but the only time it went off it caught nothing. We then reset it and it hasn't been touched by the rat even though we saw him five feet away. We used peanut butter as bait. I think it spooked him the first time it went off and now he won't touch it.

I've caught dozens of rats using at least eight different models of rat traps--the classic wooden snap trap, all-plastic models, electronic, glue, cages that keep 'em alive. You name it, I've used it (except poison), and with one exception (a knock-off of the original snap trap) I've caught rats in all of them, including this one. So those who complain that this trap simply won't catch rats are mistaken, and should either use a better bait (e.g., fresh peanut butter), or be more patient, or place it in a better location.

I also know from experience that most snap traps will fail to kill every once in a while, because the poor critter will get caught by some extremity (a limb, or tail). That's unfortunate, but it happens.

This is the first trap I've ever used in which I've seen a rat squarely caught by the neck and yet survive for hours. An ordinary wooden trap would kill the animal instantly if it were caught like that. This trap simply doesn't have the necessary power, and I agree with those who feel it's inhumane to use it. Not to mention unpleasant and inconvenient to deal with. With so many alternatives, including traps that, like this one, are easy to set and made of plastic, I see no good reason to use it. I threw mine out.
