This book is a reprint (from an 1888 collection) of photographs and descriptions of San Francisco mansions. The photos are large (an entire page each) and their quality is excellent. Opposite the photos are descriptions which include a sort of "review" of the exteriors and interiors of the homes. Most of these homes are no longer standing, having been destroyed in the 1906 earthquake or subsequent fire, but this collection is printed on acid-free paper to preserve them for posterity for generations! It is a truly beautiful volume!
