5.0 out of 5 stars Pattern for accurate historic costuming, June 21, 2010
This review is from: Victorian Corsets, Chemise and Drawers Pattern (Sewing Pattern)
All the Laughing Moon Mercantile patterns are excellent, and all are based on extant period costumes. You can't get more historically correct than that. I've only made a few -- this one included -- but I highly recommend them. They are probably a bit much for an absolute beginner, but anyone with intermediate sewing skills would find them a pleasure -- clear instructions, accurate drafting, and even historical background information. Whether you are making costumes for theater, re-enactment, or just for fun, you will find the Laughing Moon patterns to be excellent.

This is the third pattern I have used to create my own corset and have found it to be by far the easiest to understand and create. While you should be an experienced sewer, the instructions were easy to follow and very thorough, with hints and suggestions to help with fitting modifications along the way. If you are intrested in making your own corset, this is a pattern I would recomend starting with.

great projects...I've made both corsets and the drawers and they all came out perfectly, used the one shown in white as a basis for my wedding dress bodice.
