Introductory but interesting
This book was not quite what I was hoping for, to be honest. I am a fairly accomplished craftswoman, and most of the projects seemed a little basic. The choices of crafts seemed at once limited and oddly varied. For example: there are no projects for crocheting, knitting, or tatting; but the author gives directions for gluing shells to a frame. This book was not quite what I was hoping for, to be honest. I am a fairly accomplished craftswoman, and most of the projects seemed a little basic. The choices of crafts seemed at once limited and oddly varied. For example: there are no projects for crocheting, knitting, or tatting; but the author gives directions for gluing shells to a frame. You might consider this book, but I found Inside the Victorian Home very informative about many aspects of Victorian domestic life. In addition, Project Gutenburg has some interesting, free e-texts from the period that might be a better choice, such as Mrs. Beeton's Book of Needlework.
