If you're interested in Victorian things, or historic costume, this is a good book to get. Similar to the book, "Shoes, Hats and Fashion Accessories: A Pictorial Archive, 1850-1940 (Dover Pictorial Archive Series)" this is a pictorial archive of images from fashion magazines of the past. It's filled with images of shoes, hats, scarves, gloves, stockings, parasols, collars, cuffs, purses, and more. Some of the images overlap with the above-mentioned book, but as far as I could tell, a lot were new and unique. It covers the years 1850 to 1900, though some years get more coverage than others.

If you're into Victorian costume, it's a treasure trove of ideas and possibilities for items to complete your outfit. If you have a Victorian-themed blog or website, you can use the images as illustrations, or as a logo. Like many Dover books, the images are copyright-free, meaning you can do whatever you like with them, with the stipulation that you don't use more than 10 images per publication or project. I still haven't figured out what that means as far as a website goes: do I only get 10 images for the whole site, or can I use up to 10 per blog post, webpage, or article that I post on my website?

Some reviewers had trouble with the CD-ROM not working, but they must have fixed the problem because I had no issues. I was able to view the images from the CD with no trouble.

The only thing that would make this book better would be a detailed description of each item shown. But, that would be a huge undertaking, so I can understand why they didn't bother. Anyway, it's a great book if you need images of Victorian accessories!

This cd contains lots of wonderful period images. I have tried to use them in several craft projects, but have failed miserably in having them print to my satisfaction. I have yet to decide if the problem is me or the resolution of the pictures on the disc. However they are wonderful pics, and I am sure I will eventually find a use for them, so I am still very happy with my purchase even though I wasn't able to use it for the project I wanted to!

I received the book in good order with sealed CD but apparantly the book had been stored on an unflat surface and the cd was warped and un-playable. I returned the product for a replacement but received the same problem. From what I could see in the graphic book the graphics were nice with a nice variety. Too bad I could not get a book with a playable cd in it. Don't know if amazon has addressed this problem. If they would I would purchase the book again so I could use the graphics.
