This review is from: Victorian Science and Engineering: Portrayed in the Illustrated London News (History/18th/19th Century History) (Paperback)
This book consists of 110 engravings reproduced from The Illustrated London News in the Victorian era. They are divided into four topics, Food, Work, and Health, Communications and Transport, Science, and War. Each are dated and briefly explained. They vary widely but are at times arranged in a local sequence of two or three to enable a form of narrative in the descriptions. The quality of the reproductions is very good and demonstrates how good the engraving art of the time was as well. This book is by no means a stand alone introduction to a review of Victorian Science and Engineering but can be seen more as a complement to more general narrative histories that may lack sufficient illustration.
