Jason Poole has a hit in the urban fiction arena with his novel, Victoria's Secret. Within its pages, readers journey into the tumultuous lives of Babyface James and Victoria Grey. Babyface and Victoria bore scars from tragic childhoods, but that was not what made them a force to be reckoned with. This dynamic duo put Bonnie and Clyde to shame as they explored different area codes with one plan; to pimp harder. Fresh faces meant new booty and new booty meant more cash in this underworld Babyface and Victoria took by storm. From possibly being crowned `Pimp of the Year' at the legendary Playa's Ball to learning the pimp definition of southern hospitality, Babyface stacked cash and stashed bodies in his tracks with the essential ride-or-die chick. On the flip side, Victoria's secrets could dismantle their stable and disable their pimp, but how could she help when she was barely alive?

Poole's potentially classic tale is a glimpse into Pimpdom; a world most find irrational and comical simultaneously. From gaudy-garmented pimps and their dialect, to hosistahs and their intricate relationships, no detail was spared unless you count the grammatical burps. Also, under the circumstances of which Victoria's secrets were uncovered, I expected more consistency in the story being told from her point of view. With its solid plot and good use of supporting characters, Victoria's Secret is undeniably an entertaining read. It is guaranteed to grace literary charts, but why settle for fifth place when it could be number one? Regardless, it is a must read for urban fiction enthusiasts.

4.0 out of 5 stars PIMP Hard!, March 25, 2008
By
This review is from: Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Perfect Paperback)
Victoria has a good life. She loves her father, she stays fly, and she's one of the cutest little girls in the school. While she would prefer if her mama kept the drama to a limit, her life is still somewhat better than others. One night in a drunken rage, Victoria's mother allows a secret to change the course of Victoria's life forever.

In the nick of time, Baby Face, fresh out of jail, happens to be in the right place at the right time. Can it be fate? As he and Victoria learn to lean on one another, they develop an unbreakable bond. Indebted to Baby Face for saving her life, it's not long before Victoria has to step up to the mound and come up with a winner for the team. When Vic devises a plan and drafts some star players, will Baby Face step up to the owner's spot?

While Victoria and Baby Face learn the rules of the game, they develop a few fouls on their own. Will these new found rules cost them?

Jason Poole is that dude! While I can't understand the mentality of pimps and hoe's, I will say this, I laughed so loud at some of the tactics that I had to remember that I was at work. Now I won't front, I'm a CHI-town chick, so it comes with the territority, but I enjoyed how Jason pulls you inside granting you acces and providing you with the inside stuff. Now my qualms (you knew they were coming...) come in the form of editing, cause seriously, it was foul! Then when you come to my city, you're suppose to rep for real. There was misspelled streets, closed down clubs and of all people names to spell wrong, Don Juan's. Come on now! HOWEVER, I won't even penalize you to hard about that seeing that you presented a strong story, where readers instantly bonded with the characters and the drama was so thick you need the bright lights on. I was a little afraid that VICTORIA'S SECRET wouldn't totally be revealed, but at the bottom of the ninth, Poole played his star player. I was very impressed at the end; that is truly a banger! Needless to say, I will be checking your flow again young playa.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dear Diary, March 25, 2008
This review is from: Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Perfect Paperback)
He has tackled snitching, transsexuality, HIV/AIDS awareness, among other topics, but author Jason Poole takes his newest novel, " Victoria 's Secret," into another area: prostitution.

Battered, bruised, and orphaned, Victoria Gray had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, came Babyface like a knight in shining armor and saved the day and Victoria from immediate danger. From that day on, it was Babyface and Victoria against the world. With their backs against the wall and short on money, why not sell something that basically sells itself?

Quick - someone call Bishop Don Magic Juan and tell him there's a new pimp in town and Babyface is his name! And standing at his side is the baddest b*tch on the East Coast - Victoria . Pimp and pimp HARD! But in the pimp game there are very few winners. Now Victoria is in a coma fighting for her life and only she knows the circumstances and the individual that put her there. In need of answers and retribution, Babyface turns to her diary, a diary that holds all of Victoria 's secrets...

Jason Poole vividly paints several cities as the backdrop for his third novel. From DC to Atlanta to Chi-town to Memphis , readers feel like they are riding shotgun. Poole has the ability to keeps readers entertained and has created another story that will stay with you long after its conclusion.

Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) takes you on the ups and downs of the pimp game. It begins with Babyface sitting at Victoria bedside at DC General Hospital. She was brutally attacked and left for dead. Lying in a coma with her throat sliced 7"inches deep, Babyface is determined to find out who did this to his bottom hoe. He comes across her diary and realizes that he will have to read to solve the puzzle behind who would want Vic dead, and unleashing her secrets.

Jason Poole takes u back to where it all begin from the tragic childhood experience, what led Vic and Babyface to the pimping/hoe stroll, up until her attack.

Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) will have you on pins and needles from beginning to end with a twist you wouldn't believe. There were a few typos that I recognized while read this novel but it didn't take away from the story. Overall the book is off the chain!!! Keep on cranking those books out Mr. Poole you have a fan for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!, June 9, 2008
This review is from: Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Perfect Paperback)
This book was sick! I wasn't expecting this book to be as good as it was. I had never heard of Jason Poole before but I was definitely impressed. It's crazy what women would do for a man. The PIMP game is grimy as hell! I had no idea! LOL The ending threw me for a complete loop though. That was an ending that I wasn't expecting. I would like to read a sequel to this. I know that Babyface doesn't survive but I would like to see what happens when Victoria awakens. Excellent read! I can't wait to read more from this author. I DEFINITELY recommend that everyone get a copy of this book in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Closed Legs Don't Get Fed!!!!! (4.5 Stars), April 13, 2008
This review is from: Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Perfect Paperback)
Author Jason Poole is back with another banger. This time around Mr. Poole ventures into the world of prostitution and new age pimping. Victoria's Secret opens with Babyface holding vigil at his bottom ho, Victoria's bedside. Someone did Victoria dirty, slitting her throat and leaving her for dead. Victoria is the one who put Babyface on to pimping and he vows to get revenge on whoever is responsible for this. But the only way to find out just who is responsible is by reading Victoria's diary and unveiling her secrets.

Victoria's Secret will engage readers as they yearn to learn the circumstances that led Victoria to prostitution. Jason Poole masterfully uses this approach to reveal Victoria's past and at the same time unravel the mystery. The anticipation builds up and Jason does not disappoint because the ending is definitely climatic. Lets just say that it's one hell of a secret and you'll have to read the book to find out cause I won't tell.

THe story was fascinating and the ending had a twist, nothing was left to the imagination and you found out who did what and why, no cliffhangers! I like that the story didn't leave you guessing and you weren't left wondering what if like some stories. I never would have guessed how it ended..... Read this book!!

I enjoyed this book! It was recommended to me by a talented writer and I must say, it was a great suggestion. I had never read any books about pimps and hoes to this degree. Jason Poole wrote a very clever story with plenty of twists and turns that will have you feeling all the emotions of the characters. Babyface, of course was my favorite character, so I was feeling some kind of way when he found out some very explosive information that would undoubtedly change his life. Although the last chapter of the book felt a bit rushed, it had me so messed up and totally caught off guard that I was left with my mouth open the whole time. I gotta give it to Jason Poole, this was a very interesting read and those few left and right hooks he threw in at the end, totally knocked me out. Like I said before, I enjoyed this story. Hope there is a part 2 somewhere in the future. I gotta know what happens with Victoria.

3.0 out of 5 stars WHY?, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Victoria's Secret (The Cartel Publications Presents) (Perfect Paperback)
I don't know how this book got so many stars! Either I know too many pimps,or I'm a good judge of a mediocre novel. The book was entertaining at times, because of the (un)reality of it, but it was just o.k. reading at best. Cute cover, though.
