I'm always baffled by people that give a bad review for a feature that is obvious from the pictures shown. Yes, the handles are thin. I could use a thicker handle as well, but I knew that going in.

We've had these for long enough to give an opinion and that is that they have not me down. Still sharp, still look good after many trips through the dishwasher and that is why I bought them.

I love the blunt/rounded tips as they don't cut up the silverware basket in the dishwasher.

Incredibly sharp. The handles could have been better but I am very happy with the knives. They make cooking and eating better when you don't struggle cutting something. As sharp as Cutco at 1/5 the price.

Way back in 1992 - my husband was on a business trip to Switzerland. While we were there, we were looking at the big name European knives. We happened to purchase a set of these as steak knives since they were very reasonable in price compared to the big brand names. At the time, the only Victorinox knives available in the US were the Swiss Army knives.

These were the best purchase from that trip. They stay sharp - we used them more as a utility knife rather than a steak knife. Tossed them into the dishwasher, pretty much abused them and they still continued to be our knife of choice for every day cutting.

Now, 18 years later, I still have a couple from the original set - the others were lost or misplaced but never broken. I am so glad I can replace the missing ones. Yes, the knife is light weight and yes it does have a textured plastic handle. However that textured surface makes it easy to hang onto when your hands are wet. I want a knife that cuts and that I can count on without having to perform a lot of maintenance. I have no problem gathering these up to use for guests but then I prefer function over looks and these fit the bill.

I had a set of these knives as gift from my brother, but 6 knives was never enough when we had guests. These are not expensive or fancy and will not impress those who like to be impressed by such things. But they are light weight and comfortable to use. Because of the rounded tip, I had no fear letting my children learn to cut their own meat with these. My kids use them for cutting up apples as well as at the dinner table. I think they are just great!

I already own a set of these and used them for many years. They are packed away in storage in another country, and I miss them so I'm buying another set.

What I like about them is that they are understated, but extremely reliable and hard-wearing. Blades just keep doing.

PS: This is not something you'd want if you want fancy cutlery.

I bought a few of these years ago and needed more. They stay sharp forever and with the rounded tip I use them everyday for pretty much everything I need a knife for. Be sure to handle with care if you're used to not so sharp steak knives.

These knives are excellent. We have had our set for over 4yrs now and they are still PERFECT. They are my go to knife, I prefer using these over anything else. We love them so much we have given them as house warming gifts before.

Yes, these make great steak knives. Certain cultures prefer rounded tips on table knives as a matter of courtesy. Most won't ever think about this, but it's a nice gesture if your guests are picky about such things.

A simple detail that most manufacturers overlook is which side to put the serrations on. Having serrations on the wrong side can cause your steak knife to bind or leave jagged cuts in your food. Eating should be a pleasure, and struggling with your food is scarcely conducive to that. Thankfully, these knives have the serrations on the right hand side (which is the correct side if you're right handed. This will cause the smaller portion to fall away from the larger portion, rather than having the knife bind in your food. A small detail, but one that is easily overlooked.

Yes, these are great on the table, but they're also really quite handy in the kitchen. I find that I reach for these far more often than I would have anticipated. They're perfect for slicing a bagel/baguette, carving a cornish hen, butterflying/pocketing a fillet, and any other number of assorted tasks that you don't necessarily want a larger knife for.

The only failing of this knife is that it makes a terrible paring knife. This can scarcely be counted against it since this knife was never intended to be a paring knife. Nonetheless, several comments have mentioned using it as a paring knife, and I must disagree. The very same serrations that make perfect sense on the dinner table make no sense at all on the kitchen counter. The serrations are then on the wrong side (if you're paring towards yourself) and cause the knife to slip off of the food. If you're right handed, these serrations are great for cutting away from yourself, and terrible for cutting towards yourself.

I have had an identical set for some years now, and though a trifle flimsy, I have not noticed any wear and tear in the handles at all. I only bought another set because they were available at such an excellent price. I feel very confident that I will be using my original set for years to come. And should they ever become lost (which is a much greater danger than them ever wearing out), I will have replacements waiting.

There appear to be several identical sets on Amazon.com right now at different prices. I am unclear if there is any difference, but it would behoove you to search for every version of this set.

I first purchased six of these knives over 10 years ago for use as steak knives - at that time the sales assistant said " you will find yourself looking for these knives as your first choice in the kitchen drawer"
After over 10 years everday use they are still sharp and looking like new ....purchased two new sets from Amazon online recently - same quality, great knives - A quality product that you will happily use for a long time. The blades are sharp and tough - cut through frozen items, plastic ties and even through light metal (like you might find on a soft drink can) without any problem.
The handles are simple, well designed and certainly large enough, knives clean eaily and don't show signs of wear!

Obviously these are not high end steak knives as one can spot that by habving a glimpse at the price tag. For a steak the cut would probably be slightly frazzled (as with every serrated knife). In fact I was buying them as Pizza knives but they area good for anything that needs a sharp blade such as sausages, tough bread, etc. The blade is not super stiff but not too floppy either and therefore these are good all-purpose knives.
