I carried a Classic for years and then used a similar model which included an ink pen. This is about the same size with a bottle opener added and I began carrying this model. I have a supply of "Mexican Coca Cola" so I find the opener feature useful too. I recently donated one of these knives to Homeland Security at the ferry for the Statue of Liberty but not before I held back the plastic toothpick that was in the knife. Oh, I always replace the tweezers with a separately purchased Victorinox plastic toothpick. I covertly use that toothpick on a daily basis. Evidently, there is great concern that this knife could be used to hijack a NY ferry. My view, however, is that while the tools of the knife are very useful, it's value as a weapon is extremely low. It is only big enough to make your adversary really, really, angry at you.

I've carried a swiss for over 12 years and for day-to-day use, this is the best blend of tools I've found. I'd say in order of common use, I'd go with: Scissors, philips head/bottle opener, blade, flat screwdriver/file, pen, tweezers. The pen is a last resort, but handy. Small enough to fit in slacks. I litterally use it in one capacity or another every day. What sets this apart from similar models is the philips head screwdriver. Amazing how handy that becomes. If I were designing my ideal, I'd ditch the tweezers for a LED light, keep everything else the same.

Great knife! I had a similar knife (sans pen, was called the Rambler) for 10 years until it was just getting too beaten up (a session of flame-heating to slice through thick plastic didn't help) so I got this replacement. It's really similar to the "standard" mini-knife, but it's a tiny bit thicker. For that extra thickness you get a sturdy magnetic-tip phillips with bottle opener, and a pop-out pen. I use this pocketknife continually, and it is so small, it just disappears in a pocket. If I lost this, I'd be ordering another within the week.

I'm a fan of Swiss Army knives, but I'm also a minimalist. My backpacking knife for years was the Tinker - but that was in the days when I needed a Phillips screwdriver for pack adjustments and repairs. Now I'm not sure I have anything that requires the full-sized Phillips driver. I own both Wenger and Victorinox SAKs, and although I prefer Wenger's scissors with the built-in spring bar (I've broken and lost more Victorinox springs than I can count), either is a good choice.

This "Manager" model is perfect for 99% of my everyday needs while still being superbly pocketable. The scissors are too small for clipping coupons or opening packages, but perfect for snipping threads and price tag stringers - and they're sharp and strong enough to cut fingernails. The tweezers are always handy for removing slivers from kids. I especially like the Phillips head/bottle lifter tool - I use it all the time to tighten glasses frames and open battery compartments on toys. The mottled Victorinox file is smoother than the Wenger's diagonal rasp, and gives a finer finish to fingernails - and its screwdriver tip is simply essential. The ballpoint pen gets used several times a week. In fact, there's nothing on this knife that doesn't get used several times a week.

There are two weak spots on the knife. The first, which is minor, is that the knife blade seems soft: although it takes a razor edge, it also doesn't hold it very well and needs frequent swipes on a steel to maintain its edge. The second is that the springs on my knife seem unusually supple; most of the tools - including the knife - fold up under anything but the lightest of tasks. That latter problem is the main reason I deducted a star.

I have the "translucent sapphire" color - it's blue and it was on sale - and it's OK. I'm happy with it. The red is generally easier to see if you drop it though.

Replacement pen units are pricey, but I'm going to order one so I have it on hand.

I purchased the Sapphire blue Manager and it's an incredibly handy little tool to have around and good looking! I keep it on my keychain. I chose this over the other small Swiss Army knives for the pen, bottle opener, little phillips and tweezers. The blade assists me in opening packages or mail, the scissors are very sharp and great for trimming a broken nail, cutting a stray thread, a coupon or gift wrap for that last minute gift you purchased on the way to the party. The pen is ready for a quick grocery list. It's always on the keychain, so much handier than digging to the bottom of my purse for a pen! The tweezers are very useful with a good grip to yank out a stray hair, and very thin so they slip under slivers easily to help extract them. I find them more useful than standard tweezers. The cap lifter is convenient for a bottle of microbrew and it has the phillips screwdriver that is just the right size for the battery compartment on a lot of toys. I'm very pleased with this little Victorinox knife!

This is my favorite among the 58mm keychain sized Swiss Army knives. This smaller series is easier to carry along with your keys.

Among the smaller Victorinox models, the Signature line (of which this Manager is part of) is particularly interesting because they have a tiny pen that you can use in a pinch. I never normally have a pen in my pocket - unless of course when I have one of these mini tools with me. Like other Victorinox models of this size, there is a knife blade, very useful little scissors, nail file with small screwdriver, and tweezers. One more tool that makes this model outstanding is the combo-tool: beer bottle opener with a small Philips screwdriver tip.

There are small 58mm series knives that have more tools, but they get a little too thick for pocket/keychain use. The ones that also have a light in them are not bright enough, in fact they are downright dim - you are better off with a separate keychain LED light. So this Manager is the best mix of tools for daily use in my opinion.

I highly recommend this model. By the way, Amazon usually has the best prices on Victorinox knives.
