It's also a sharp looking watch.

The red hands and Swiss logo are a nice compliment to the dial as well, more sophisticated looking and less boring than just solid black dials and white hands.

    Probablely their best QUARTZ Chronograph.

This is a Beautiful watch! It's one the best chronographs I have out of 27 chronograph watches, and they are almost all Victorinox.

It is a FOUR HAND, FOUR Function Chronograph. ETA Calibre 251.262. Probablely their best QUARTZ Chronograph. It is deadly accurate, and the hands are spot on their marks.

The price has gone UP, not down since I bought mine, and I'd still buy it at it's new price.

It has a slightly magnaifing Sapphire DOMED crystal, with a blue-purple cast that is simply elegent. The numbers are bright silver and change their cast as you move the watch.

The Red Dial hands and Red Victorinox Shield contrast beautifly with the truely Black face.
The case and band are flawlessly polished Stainless.

Now as to zeroing marker hands, the directions for all that are in the manual. It's simple to do.

"WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, READ THE DIRECTIONS!"

If you're looking for a great Chronograph, This is it. (IMHO)

I am a watch aficionado with far more watches than I really need. But this is one of my favorites. Here are some likes:

    1. It has an ETA 251.262 movement. This movement displays chronograph minutes with a full-diameter sweeping hand, like its red sweep second hand - but silver colored. This makes makes reading minutes of the chronograph 1,000% easier than typical tiny sub-dial watches.

    2. It's titanium which reduces weight and makes the large size reasonably comfortable to wear.

    3. I like the clean design. Many chronographs are encumbered with a lot of fine markings which obscure readability.

    I have only one complaint:
The hands and numerals are reflective steel. At some angles this is great. But at other angles they are too dark against the background of the black dial. I prefer matte finish white painted hands and numerals.

The presence of so many positive reviews is a testament to the quality of this watch. For a sporty quartz chrono, it nears perfection for its price range. Every detail is immaculately crafted, from the alternating brushed/polished steel on the bezel and bracelet, to the domed crystal and intricate detail on the face. I hacked the second hand to official time 96 hours ago, and have been comparing the time. In four days, I am yet to see it lose or gain even a single second. I have no doubt that it will after a while, but I can always see at least some inaccuracy after four days on most watches. Not this one. That's one reason why so many people love the ETA 251.262 movement. The red highlights in the hands and logo are a tasteful addition to the look of the Alpnach, and the second hour hand coupled with the rotating bezel for marking elapsed time is actually a useful feature. This is a watch lover's watch, and I believe it stacks up in form, fit, and function to quartz watches in any price range. I sometimes wonder at the MSRP of other Victorinox watches, but I can see why this one has a suggested retail well over $800.00. At the time of this review, I paid 360.00 for mine, and at that price the value is unbelievable. Even if it was over $500.00, it would still be well worth it. You can't go wrong with this watch, so long as you buy it from a reputable seller who can exchange it in the unlikely event of malfunction. This watch will not disappoint!

I LOVE this watch. I am somewhat of a watch aficionado, though admittedly in the lower-end range, and this as become my immediate favorite. I got a compliment from a colleague on the first day I wore it.

The dial is solid black, but one thing you can't tell from the picture is that it gets gradient when the light hits it. Adds an element of class to it I think. The red hands and Swiss logo are a nice compliment to the dial as well, more sophisticated looking and less boring than just solid black dials and white hands. And scratch-resistant sapphire is the only way to go! You can tell it is thick and durable. The band is also a nice style and very comfortable.

It is the perfect size too. I hate big watches, they are gaudy. This watch is the ideal size and design for ANY outfit. I wear it with my dress clothes in the office, and I wear it in the gas field with my Hi-vis gear. This thing is solid and looks great with everything.

I looked at other, similar watchs, but this watch just blew me away! I "almost" bought an Air Boss, but this watch has SO much more to offer. I love that it has the Air Boss - style of full size second and minute hand chrono. But it ALSO has a standard second hand, which the AB does not. So, if you are trying to synch your time with a computer down to the second, how would you do that with an AB with no second hand? Also, the watch is drop-dead gorgeous. I really like the counntdown bezel, which is often what I use to time the grill, etc, but this is so elegant, without the big "handles" or protrusions of other Swiss Army models. The hour up-or-down is a great feature, too, and not every model has that. In short this model has it ALL.

I can't ever recall being so happy with a purchase. Amazon makes it so easy, too.

    Harry
