Product Description

In 1884, Karl Elsener opened a cutlery workshop in Ibach-Schwyz, Switzerland with the support of his mother Victoria. Just like that, Victorinox Swiss Army was born.

In 1891, Elsener and his coworkers deliver knives for soldiers in the Swiss Army for the first time. Six years later, the company legally protected the names Swiss "Officer's" and "Sport Knife." The model later became known as the Original Swiss Army Knife.

Following Elsener's mother's death in 1909, the company incorporated her name into the brand and unveiled its well-known cross and shield emblem. Elsener arrived at the name Victorinox by combining the name Victoria with "inox," an abbreviation of the French word for rust-resistant steel, “inoxydable.”

In 1989, Victorinox officially entered the timepiece business in the United States under the brand name Swiss Army. In 1999, Victorinox partners with the American TRG Group in St. Louis and enters into the international travel gear market. In 2001, the company launched a fashion line in the U.S. with a collection that delivers technical and tailored styling capturing the brand’s essence of practical luxury. If that wasn't enough, in 2007 Victorinox sets up Victorinox Swiss Army Fragrance AG, and in 2009 Victorinox Swiss Unlimited was launched.

Victorinox Swiss Army treasures its heritage, the future is equally inspiring. Innovation is at the heart of each Victorinox product it introduces, with exciting technical advancement throughout all its product categories.

Victorinox Swiss Army Alliance watch features a Swiss analog quartz movement, 40mm stainless steel case, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, black dial, luminous hands and markers, date calendar and a brown genuine leather strap. Swiss Made and water resistant to 330 feet.

I don't want to be stuck with a watch that has a weak leather strap clasp.

I've gotten a number of compliments on it, but best of all is that I simply enjoy putting it on everyday, and take pride in wearing a watch again.

It is a very classic looking watch that can be worn in both a formal and casual setting.

Pros:
It looks amazing, the leather strap initially is very thick but becomes very comfortable after a day or so of wear, the Anti Reflective coating makes it seem like there isnt a crystal there at all! It's a watch it does what is asked of it with style. The hands are very nice and the numbers on the face of the watch look exactly like it is pictured. You get exactly what you see in the picture. Yes, the band looks just like that on your arm. Beware this watch is nicer than your Marc Jacobs watches of yore. But then again I have never been a person who likes those flashy watches anyway. It says it is waterproof and it is. But if you intend on going into a pool with this watch I would not recommend it unless you have a replacement band. It will however take quite a beating, it is a casual everyday watch, and I use it when I am doing everyday things from hiking, to snowboarding this watch has been with me through several road trips albeit I've only had the watch a few weeks it is holding up very well and I always get compliments about how clean it looks.
Cons:
The bezel scratches easily. Maybe its just me, I am not a particularly gentle person, but after a week or so of wear there are noticeable scratches on the bezel. Which is to be expected with any watch, but the metal I suppose is soft so it scratches easily. The warranty covers everything BUT the leather strap apparently and although it is a tough watch the second strap you tuck the watch strap into is not. If you aren't careful you could tear the tiny strap off and a replacement band from Victorinox will run you about $60. This is not a deterrent for me in any sense and it should not deter you either.

The watch itself is very nice. I've dropped it several times on various surfaces and has no noticeable scratches. However, the reason I keep dropping it is because the pins in the strap are far too small and any remotely vigorous movement sends the watch flying off my hand.

I bought this watch as a wedding gift for my fiancee and he absolutely loved it (me too). It is a very classic looking watch that can be worn in both a formal and casual setting. The back of the watch left plenty of room for engraving. Definitely worth it.

This watch is a stunning watch to look at in person. A family member really wanted this watch. He tried it on at a department store first so I did not have to worry about sizing. He mainly uses this watch for graduate school. I've seen it on him and it seems to match well with his style. Loos very professional. I don't believe there's any luminescence, but this is more aimed for a day watch than night time. Build quality looks and feels like it will last a long time. Hopefully long enough for him to graduate and upgrade to an even nicer watch!

What a shame! The watch is very stunning-looking, but the strap and claps are really weak! I was really disappointed when I had to ship the watch back to Amazon. I don't want to be stuck with a watch that has a weak leather strap clasp. I honestly think that it will fall apart only after a few wears! :(
