4.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch - Steep learning curve
This is a very high tech watch with exceedingly high build quality and ruggedness. It is heavy. The design is a hybrid analog/digital with the digital display providing a second time zone, day/date/week of year, alarm, timer, and counter. Unlike most hybrids, this is an analog watch first and foremost and a digital watch second. In fact, the digital display is discrete in...

2.0 out of 5 stars Overcomplicated and Too Heavy
This watch is unnecessarily technical to operate as well as unusually HEAVY. I bought it purely for aesthetics but have found it to be an overload of technology that is very difficult to operate. The manual was minimally helpful in understanding the features but falls FAR short of a user friendly resource for learning all the functionality. Plus, the controls are...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch - Steep learning curve, March 26, 2010
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Men's 24469 Hunter Collection Analog/Digital Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
In fact, the digital display is discrete in appearance and can be completely turned off, or reduced to just the date to make for a sleeker non-digital look. One unique feature is that the watch can be placed in hybernation mode to extend battery life. I have both the stainless steel and rubber watch bands. The rubber band is more comfortable on my skinny wrist, but the stainless band is great looking. This is an expensive looking watch which gets compliments. I also collect swiss time pieces, but this is one watch that won't get knocked off in China. It is simply too high tech and unique in design. The only downside to this watch is that making adjustments requires the manual. There is nothing intuitive about setting this watch. If you're willing to keep the manual handy and refer to it whenever you need to set the watch, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch, October 25, 2011
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Men's 24469 Hunter Collection Analog/Digital Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I purchased this watch in Switzerland 10 years ago to replace my Rolex Oyster. It is a fantastic watch with many outstanding features: the contoured case is much more comfortable to wear than a Rolex and doesn't snag on your shirt cuffs like virtually all of the large diver/driver style watches on the market. While it's many features may require occasional referral to the manual, the one I use the most, changing time zones when I travel is the easiest I've ever used and it automatically adjusts the time, to the second, to compensate for the time you've used to change the time zone. I've gone through two 100% "rubber" wrist straps - both failed at the clasp, and one ss+rubber strap which hasn't failed completely and have been using the solid ss wrist band for the last 5-6 years - easier to use than the Rolex and again very comfortable for this type of band. The crystal is outstanding - I've worn the watch every day since I purchased it, with the normal banging around, and there is not a visible scratch on it. Battery life is about 4 years (I'm on my third). IMO this watch is worth every bit of its cost.

Plus, the controls are extremely touchy and the settings change by accident several times throughout a given day.

If you were like me and like the aesthetic but neither want nor need the technical aspects of a digital watch, buy something else.
