I have owned this knife for several years now and love it. I have 4 boys and it comes in very handy for those scout trips! It's nice to have everything right there on your belt. I have used the bandages, flashlight, compass, safety pins, and the sewing kit many times. When we take the wife and daughters camping/ backpacking it always comes with me. I even keep it in with my personal items at work. I can't tell you how many pairs of glasses i have fixed for the kids at my school with the smallest screwdriver! I find it much better quality than those little eyeglass kits you get in the drug store. I have opened up computer cases for repairs, I have made new holes for my kids in their belts, the jobs that it has come in handy for goes on. I really like having the needle, magnifying glass and tweezers for getting out slivers too. I even replaced the band aids with some that had been treated with silver so that I didn't have to carry antibiotic around with me. In short I love this set!

Draw backs- These are a little ticky but...
1- flashlight could be better if it was a brighter led (mine is a normal bulb light.)
2- sometimes I need a little larger pliers to get a good grip.
3- Weight. It's not bad, I know I don't mind it, but I'm sure it could be more than some want to carry.

high points
1- I have always loved little things that could get the job done well and yet be packed away neatly. I enjoy being able to have what my family needs right there all the time. (Though I did sneak in a pair of fingernail clippers too.)
2- the quality is unsurpassed, in my mind Victorinox makes one of the best knives out there. (I own 5, and it's what I give my kids when they start scouts.)
3- It's so nice not to go hunting for tools or have to carry around a big kit. (I have managed to repair gates, prune trees, and repair kids jewelry with it while I was out.)

Now that it's under $100, It's starting to get to be a much better bargain too!

As soon as I opened the box I fell in love with the Swiss Champ SOS. The leather case is top quality and the knife is the same. I carry it with me everyday and it's a life saver. If you are thinking about whether this knife set is worth getting or not just purchase it. You will not be disappointed.

Including the "wife and girls". And everyone should have some survival training as well.

My Swiss Army knife has sawed wood, metal, repaired eyeglasses and various other large and small items. Every single tool on this superlative knife has seen some usage over the years that I have had it. I treat it well and consider it my loyal helper. Every so often I carefully wash out the road grit and other detritus and treat the joints and "hinges" to some fine machine oil (non freezing type).

In the past I have had some "generic" SA knives and the difference in quality and workmanship as well as trustwrthiness has been evident in the long OR short run. I will take the Victorinox Swiss Army knife over any other competitor, any time.

Needless to say, this is the most reliable tool one can have. Very light for all the uses it offers and the tools are very tough and all blades are very sharp. If you want something that can help you get out of tricky situations when you're less expecting any trouble, you should consider buying one of these. The leather case is very robust and you never know when you're going to need all the 'gadgetry' that comes with it. Don't think, just buy it.

This was a great buy! Well worth the price for all of the tools you get with the knife.

I honestly don't own this particular knife... yet. I own a higher-end Leatherman. Many tool nuts like me own something like a Leatherman multitool, but nothing like this. If your husband, boyfriend, dad, son, etc is a tool nut (or hiker, camper or survivalist) who has everything, this is the perfect gift. It is too expensive for a stocking stuffer but it is a perfect "main" gift. It is hard to buy a nice tool as your don't usually know what a tool nut has (or wants) or which model etc. If you are looking to spend a couple hundred bucks and want to guarantee a surprised and happy man (or woman) tool nut, pick this up. You can't go wrong!
