Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army knife a century ago comes this tie-dye version of the classic pocket knife. This knife contains six tools that put life in order again when they're needed. Measuring just 2-1/4 inches long--less than a pack of gum--and sheathed in a tie-dye design casing, the Classic pocket knife is a toolbox and manicure kit small enough to fit into a pocket. (It also comes with a key ring.) Stainless-steel tools contained inside are a knife blade, scissors, a nail file with a screwdriver tip, a removable plastic toothpick, and removable tweezers.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Tie Dye Knife (Purple) (Sports)
I bought this knife as well as three others from Amazon as a birthday present for my dad with a few of my siblings - the knives came in great condition and they are very nice items in his collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same quality - different look, October 6, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Tie Dye Knife (Purple) (Sports)
When most of my friends also love these little knives, it is easy to get into the "whose knife is this?" discussion. Red? Green? Black? they are everywhere. No more - my knife is now easily identifiable in any group! I know the appearance has also led to it not walking off a couple of times - too easy for me to know exactly who had it.

The best part - no matter what the outside looks like, you still get the Victorinox quality the world depends on. If this one is not your thing, check out the many other colors/patterns that are available.
