5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent pocketknife, but you'll miss the screw-driver..
This classic Swiss Army knife will serve you well -- I've had mine for going on 10 years. However, this model does not have a Phillips-head screwdriver function, which I find extremely useful. If you can deal with that missing element, I'd say, buy away!
Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic. Perfect for the urban backpacker., December 1, 2005

I purchased my Climber in 1991 and have enjoyed every minute of it. It was - and is still, as far as I can tell - the most compact Swiss Army knife with both the scissors and the corkscrew, the two attachments I felt were the most useful (to me, an urban backpacker at the time) after the two basic knives. I have given The Climber as a gift many times, with great success. The Climber is amazingly sharp, strong, and helpful. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice clasical, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Climber Pocket Knife (Sports)
I've had my Climber knife for almost 14 years now, and it is as good and shiny as new. (And I bought it from Switzerland, not that this would make any difference).
Lost the tweezer, and just ordered a replacement, so that my Climber is "whole" again.
Very nice and faithfull tool!

5.0 out of 5 stars a great choice for every day carry. SAKs rock!, December 20, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been using a climber now for quite some time, and even though I have gone to other knives for every day carry, I continually come back to the trusty climber. it has all I need for daily tasks at work, at home and the family counts on me having it on me too.

how do I use the climber?
- blades (x2, large and small) are used for what blades are used for cutting!
- scissors seem to be indispensable for daily tasks, and this is the one my family counts on me having
- small flat screw driver on can opener, works excellent as a Philips screw driver and fits perfectly in most Philips screws I have ever tried. and yes, I have used the can opener too, works great.
- large screw driver is not used much by me, but the bottle opener works great, and it also is a decent pry bar
- corkscrew is great for picking knots and holds a mini-screw driver for small screws such as eye glass screws. mini drive purchased separately
- awl is great for punching holes in just about anything
- and I've even used the hook to carry boxes that are joined with plastic lashing that may cut you hands

as you can see, this knife is indispensable on a daily basis and is hands down my favorite of the Victorinox 91mm line.

Great, handy tool that I use around at the house for almost everything. I do wish there was a philips screwdriver along with, but I think I'll just het another model that has one. This scores big with me because it has most of the essential tools and is compact at the same time. Definitely worth the buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Climber, July 20, 2009

This is a great multi-purpose tool. I did a lot of research looking for a Swiss army knife that would best suit my hiking/camping needs. So far the Climber has proven to be a very good choice. I've used this on two or three camping trips and keep it inside of my car glovebox outside of that. I've had the tool for about 6 months now. Below I will break down the advantages of each individual part.

Can opener - Use this a couple of times each camping trip. Pretty handy to have when camping rather than some either bulky or hard to find addition to all of your other items.

Reamer - I've found this very useful for getting loose extremely tight knots that you wished you'd left some slack on, or even shoelaces that knot too tightly.

Cork screw - Works great. I've used it several times now and plan on using it much, much more. (Cheers) I think this is a good sacrifice over the screwdriver!

Scissors - Very nice to have, good for cutting nails/coupons. Nice to have on hand in the car.

Bottle opener - Does its job.

(Attached to Bottle opener) Wire stripper - Haven't used (or really plan on using).

(Attached to Bottle opener and Can opener) Flathead screwdrivers, haven't used these yet but figure they may come in handy one day.

Tweezers - Haven't used these yet either.

Hook - Very nice for pulling out smaller, metal tent pegs.. although, my tent situation has recently been upgraded to the larger plastic ones (too bad).

Toothpick - Nice to have if you've been eating corn on the cob!

Blades (Large and small) - These are great! Very sharp and retain their edge pretty well, too.

Overall, I would say that I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

It's awesome, very durable, and the blades are really sharp!!! In terms of functionality, it's awesome. In terms of appearance, simple, yet rugged...If you add everything up, you'll realize why Swiss Army produces THE BEST pocket knives out there!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Great After All These Years., September 27, 2010
I have a Victorinox Climber that I purchased around 1982. I absolutely love it. About 15 years ago I had to replace the spring in the scissors section and it has been going strong all these years. I recently purchased a new one just for the simple pleasure of having another one in my treasure chest. I purchased it because I wanted to see how the quality compared with the one I have had all these years. Additionally, seeing these knive made on the science channel "How Things Are Made" inspired me to have one to put in my safe to pass on to one of my relatives when I leave this world. The quality is still flawless, the edge sharp and perfect. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swiss Army Knife, July 29, 2007
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Climber Pocket Knife (Sports)
I did not know there was such a variety of Swiss Army Knives. I was able to duplicate one that I had given my husband more than 15 years ago and that he had lost recently. He's tickled pink to have another. The price was so low I expected the knife to be of poor quality. But it arrived promptly and was in perfect, high quality condition.

I have found this knife to be very handy having all the tools that I need. I particularly like the scissors. I bought this knife as a direct replacement of one that I had lost. I like the black case which gives it a classy look.
