5.0 out of 5 stars great knife, July 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great knife! I had a similar knife (sans pen, was called the Rambler) for 10 years until it was just getting too beaten up (a session of flame-heating to slice through thick plastic didn't help) so I got this replacement. It's really similar to the "standard" mini-knife, but it's a tiny bit thicker. For that extra thickness you get a sturdy magnetic-tip phillips with bottle opener, and a pop-out pen. I use this pocketknife continually, and it is so small, it just disappears in a pocket. If I lost this, I'd be ordering another within the week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best blend of tools for the size, March 4, 2008
By
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Manager Multitool Knife (Sports)
I've carried a swiss for over 12 years and for day-to-day use, this is the best blend of tools I've found. I'd say in order of common use, I'd go with: Scissors, philips head/bottle opener, blade, flat screwdriver/file, pen, tweezers. The pen is a last resort, but handy. Small enough to fit in slacks. I litterally use it in one capacity or another every day. What sets this apart from similar models is the philips head screwdriver. Amazing how handy that becomes. If I were designing my ideal, I'd ditch the tweezers for a LED light, keep everything else the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars must have accessory!, January 14, 2008

I've carried one of these on every key chain I have for over 20 years. It's amazing how often the little scissors come in handy. I think everybody should own one...and they last for years and years

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, February 25, 2011

I love this thing. I bring it with me along with my keys and its very useful and high quality. I had the official one before this and I hated carrying it around with me because of its size. This has every tool you'll need and it will fit in your pocket. I have used the screw driver for fixing my friends ps3 controller quickly, the scissors for cutting off tags, the knife for opening boxes, the nail filer for filing my nails, the pen for writing, and the tweezers for taking out splinters. This is very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, October 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I carried a Classic for years and then used a similar model which included an ink pen. This is about the same size with a bottle opener added and I began carrying this model. I have a supply of "Mexican Coca Cola" so I find the opener feature useful too. I recently donated one of these knives to Homeland Security at the ferry for the Statue of Liberty but not before I held back the plastic toothpick that was in the knife. Oh, I always replace the tweezers with a separately purchased Victorinox plastic toothpick. I covertly use that toothpick on a daily basis. Evidently, there is great concern that this knife could be used to hijack a NY ferry. My view, however, is that while the tools of the knife are very useful, it's value as a weapon is extremely low. It is only big enough to make your adversary really, really, angry at you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best set of tools among smaller swiss army knives, May 28, 2010
By
This is my favorite among the 58mm keychain sized Swiss Army knives. This smaller series is easier to carry along with your keys.

Among the smaller Victorinox models, the Signature line (of which this Manager is part of) is particularly interesting because they have a tiny pen that you can use in a pinch. I never normally have a pen in my pocket - unless of course when I have one of these mini tools with me. Like other Victorinox models of this size, there is a knife blade, very useful little scissors, nail file with small screwdriver, and tweezers. One more tool that makes this model outstanding is the combo-tool: beer bottle opener with a small Philips screwdriver tip.

There are small 58mm series knives that have more tools, but they get a little too thick for pocket/keychain use. The ones that also have a light in them are not bright enough, in fact they are downright dim - you are better off with a separate keychain LED light. So this Manager is the best mix of tools for daily use in my opinion.

I highly recommend this model. By the way, Amazon usually has the best prices on Victorinox knives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Size and Combination of Tools, March 25, 2009

This knife combines the best combination of size and tools. It is the small version which fits conveniently on a keychain.

It includes a bottom opener which is very rare for this size knife.

The scissors and knife open on the side opposite of the keychain ring, which is very intuitive. Many of these knives have the scissors or blade open on the same side as the keyring, which is very awkward if you have this knife attached to a keychain.

The order I use the tools are: scissors, bottle opener, blade, flat head screwdriver, phillips head screwdriver, tweezers, and pen.

Everyone should have one of these on their keys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something everyone should have on their keychain, May 31, 2011

I had the Midnight Manager on my keychain for about 5 years before my keychain broke and the little guy ran off somewhere. The Midnight Manager has an LED light instead of the tweezers found on the standard Manager. Since I never really used the LED, I decided to get this one with the tweezers. Everything else is the exact same as my old trusty knife, which I love. The tweezers aren't very snug with the base and I fear that someday they might get lost. I use all of the tools on this knife so much. I didn't realize it until the package for the new one came and I reached for my absent pocket knife to open it up. Whoops! The philips head screwdriver is great for electronics and glasses. The pen takes a few seconds to set up, so I usually try to find a regular one first, but it works in a pinch. I can't tell you how often my girlfriend asks me to perform a task that I can easily accomplish with this thing. Buy the original swiss army knife, Victorinox, and you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great AT knife, April 28, 2011
By
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Manager Multitool Knife (Sports)
Used this on the AT in 2009 for 1000 miles, plan to use it again this summer (2011) for another 500 miles. You don't need a bigger knife than this for the AT. The pen is great, used it for my journal. The knife is good for cutting food, like cheese, and scissors are great for moleskin. A bottle opener is always handy, as are the tweezers and nail file. I don't miss not having a tooth pick... For day to day use though I carry a Leatherman Skeletool CX.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victorinox Swiss Army knife, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is the handiest pocket tool I have ever owned. It is small enough that I am unaware it is in my pocket until I need it. I have used the pen and the magnetic philips head tools as much as the cutting blade. The clipers retain a cutting edge, but I do not use them as often. The slot-type screwdriver is also handy but seldom used.
Well worth the money. I feel lost without it.
