This SwissCard is the same size as a credit card, but about 3x thicker. It contains all the essential tools available from my classic pocket knife. Namely: blade (officially called a 'letter opener'), scissors, tweezers, nail file with screw driver tip, etc. In addition, one edge of the card also serves as a ruler in both inches and cm.
The detachable blade is an important benefit when I'm traveling: just keep the blade at home and carry the rest of the tools with me. By the way, I just tested this during my most recent trip. Apparently the airport security only has problems with blades, but scissors are acceptable.
Note that there are several versions of SwissCard available. For example, the Victorinox Swisscard Lite Pocket Tool contains a White LED and a magnifier lens, but it is missing the nail file and toothpick. So make sure to pick the version with tools that are most useful to you.
All things considered, the SwissCard is a great item to keep in anyone's briefcase, wallet or purse. It makes a great gender-neutral gift for people which don't want to carry a 'knife'. But in general, the Swiss Army Classic pocket knife is a better value since you get the same tools for half the cost.
The pen, whilst tiny and not that comfortable to use, has proved an assett.
The scissor cover broke off a long time ago, and also floats around in my pocket.
The pen is useless. Its diameter is so tiny, only the smallest fingers have a hope of operating it.
It is a good idea, but I would wait for some much needed improvements to be made.
