Purchased for a trip to Ireland, this bag worked great. The handle rotates, making it easy to roll along behind you without hurting your wrist. It has lots of pockets, and is nice and roomy for a smaller suitcase. The quality is top-notch. And the size is perfect for squeezing into overhead compartments. Had no problems at all.

This is a very well designed bag.
I just took it on a trip to Denmark, the bag did fine everywhere it went! Airport, train stations, and walking through crowded streets. The bag was right behind me. Nice strapping system it has to attach a second bag to it -- even with the monopole... It's a great bag!

Looking for the Perfect Wheeled Carry On?,

It seems like I've been looking for the perfect wheeled carry on all my life. It should fit in all of the overhead bins for standard commercial jets (this one fits only in the larger bins, and sometimes has to be placed sideways). It should have a pocket on the front for the airplane itinerary / passport / pens / keys, etc. This one has a pocket, but no internal organization, and no key chain attachment point, like some of the cheaper carry-ons. The front zippers zip across the top and down the left side, but the compartments don't zipper down the right side. Assymetrical, inconvenient, and odd. The wheels function ok, but don't seem to be 'roller blade' quality. I admit I really purchased this for the swivel T-handle, which I do like. The T-handle swivel locks in the horizontal and vertical positions. Another thing missing in this case included on a cheaper one was a pop-out water bottle holder, which unzipped from the size of the case and I absolutely loved!
Will anyone ever make the ideal carry on?

Not what I ordered,

Just received the Werks Traveler 3.0 20" Delixe Wheeled Travel Bag SOLD by Amazon. I was shocked and disappointed to discover this was not the same item diplayed or described on the amazon site. It was also not the same item display and described on the offical Victorinox site. The model I received is not expandable and is also missing the removable suiter. My immediate thought is that this may be a "knock off"! What's even more annoying is that Amazon does not have a 1-800 number to contact them on and alert them about issues like this. Instead you have to go through the hassle of emailing them.

Quality Construction, but Poor Design,

I've owned this bag for two years now.
The positives? I'm pretty sure I will pass away before this bag does, and I'm in my 20s. This thing may as well be cast iron for all its sewn construction. The hardware doesn't feel nearly as strong, however. In the two years of use and abuse this bag has seen, I have begun to worry about the handle mechanism, as it now has a "jiggling around" feel whenever extended even a little. The zippers, seams, and wheels on the other hand seem extraordinarily durable. On to the negatives, now. For me there are two major downsides, the first of which is its weight. The bag weighs about 7 pounds. Nothing packed inside it. Even when I think I'm packing SUPER light (underpants and hiking socks, literally), the bag becomes hard for me to manage. This is especially important when it comes to trying to stuff it inside an overhead storage bin, where I struggle a lot. Admittedly, I have very little upper body strength, but the base weight is something to keep in mind. The second downside for me, and what makes the bag automatically go straight to "checked luggage", is its handle. That center spoke design? It's USELESS. I have the matching duffle bag from this set (a rather small, eminently useful bag) and not even it can manage to stay on top of this thing. There's an elastic strap which is supposed to come around and loop up to secure the bag in place, which does NOT do anything. No matter how I load the bag on top, as soon as I'm wheeling myself down the concourse, the bag flips around to hang on the ground, or it just plain falls off. The bag-flipping takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes maximum, depending on how it's loaded. Overall? I would not buy this again, and in fact, it's unfortunate that I'll have to wait for the rest of it to die in order to replace it. The physical construction is what I would have expected from Victorinox but the design and weight make it much less practical for my needs. Now for traveling where I need a larger bag that can be carried on I've switched to a backpacking backpack.

Not Worth the effort,

The rotating handle on center extention is a great idea that lasted exactly 8 months as a plastic pin that engages that handle inside of the bag sheared off making the handle unusable. The design also makes it impossible to stack a computer case on the top of the bag. Very uncomfortable and awkward to use to walk long distance.
I can not recommend this bag. |
