I LOVE this canning rack and all the options it gives you when canning. Where there are no dividers, you can not only do the regular 7 quarts, but you also have to option to do up to 9 pints or 13 half pints in a batch. And the stainless steel finish means no rust. I have four water bath canners and I bought one for each of them. What are you waiting for...simplify your life with this awesome product.

This rack broke right away. It would have been great, as the jars sat nicely on it. But the welds were bad. I loaded it for the first time with 4 jars in the up position mounted on the pot like you're supposed to. The weld broke as I added the 4th jar, sending the entire thing crashing into the pot with the jars. Very alarming for a first time canner.
Unfortunately it was just very poor quality and didn't perform at all. Thus the 2 stars. The seller gave me a quick refund which was kind of them and I got a different rack. Sorry this didn't work out and thank you for the speedy service.

After decades of canning using the typical rack that comes with an ordinary Ball granite ware canner, it is so nice to not have rusty water in the canner when I am done. For a long time, I blamed the sediment and rust on our well water. I took a chance with the stainless steel Victorio rack and guess what?.....no more rusty water full of sediment when I am done canning! And there is no more residue on my finished jars.

A flat bottom canning rack is the way to go. This fits in my standard canning pot just right. I can hold around 12 half pint jars in this rack at once, making processing time quicker in big batches. The crooks in the rack arms allow it to hang on the side of the pot making filling up and removing jars easier than digging them out of the bottom of the pot. I haven't had any problem with rusting on the welded points or wires of this rack.

Canning caution,

I purchased this item (VKP1056) for my All-American (Wisconsin Foundry) model 921 pressure canner.
Described size was nominally good for my pot. Delivered rack was just a tad oversize from the description. Snagged the walls of the pot about half way down. I'm not a whinny little piss boy (as so many unimaginative, lazy and ignorant critics are) and so reckoned to manually adjust the diameter a bit to make my purchase work without much more ado. Very irritating, two of the spot welds on the outer perimeter broke immediately. Minor manual manipulation with bad results. Danger, danger, Will Rogers. It doesn't take much imagination to see the potential here of pulling out a rack full of very hot and heavy items out of your pot and have them unexpectedly spilling and injuring a loving homemaker. Bad, bad, bad. ER Doctors, heads up. Salivating attorneys, take note. Seriously, a no brainer, avoid this misbegotten item. On a positive note, I promptly replaced this disappointing item with a similar rack from Kitchen Krafts. This new, properly fitting rack is made of stainless steel wire slightly of a heavier gauge (.125 vs .110 inches) and good spot welding resisting any of my reasonable and maybe a little beyond attempts to break the joints. A little pricey but well worth it. Good fit, form and function. Nuff said. |
