Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Morash here builds on the strong success of her previous Victory Garden Cookbook to take a refreshing approach to fish and vegetables, both separately and together, in a cornucopia of recipes featured on her crowd-pleasing PBS-TV Victory Garden program. She demonstrates how and when to pair up fish and greens with one another--which flavors will bring out the best in others, as in the case of a grilled whole bass with fennel--and also explains what techniques will serve cooks well in their efforts to make these matches work out. The recipes are clear and accessible, healthful and broad in their collective scope, from those that are unabashedly New England-bred (Morash was once a chef on Nantucket, and is still a Massachusetts resident) to others cooked with an Italian accent (various risottos, and scallops soffritto, among others). Relatively few cookbooks have come along to suggest this natural alliance between foods of the sea and stuff of the ground; it makes sense, and it also makes the mouth water. Author tour.

From Library Journal

Morash, author of the enduringly popular The Victory Garden Cookbook ( LJ 9/15/82), has also been the chef of a Nantucket restaurant that specialized in fish dishes. In her new collection, she offers 450 recipes featuring seasonal produce and fish and shellfish, reflecting both the greater diversity of vegetables now available in the marketplace and the increasing emphasis on fish in our diets. Many dishes use local New England seafood (lots of bluefish and lobster), but Morash lists suitable alternatives for each. She also includes lengthy boxes on buying, storing, and preparing all types of fish and shellfish, similar to those on vegetables in her first book. Filled with useful information and unusual recipes, this is highly recommended.

It's frustrating. I have had this book for 2-3 years and am constantly using it's receipies. My daughter and several other friends are asking me about receipies in it and would love to have a copy- and I would love to provide one for them. I have been doing this for a very long time- Is the publisher every going to respond to demand?

Publisher, please reprint this book! ....I too have been searching for over a year for this book, at booksales, antique shows that have older print books, book search companies, and no luck. There's a demand for it, so why not reprint it?

If you only knew how many times I had this book under my arm in the bookstore when it first came out. I couldn't really afford it back then and I figured I could get it later. Please reprint this beautiful book. I can afford 2 now! I keep checking the out of print pages hoping it will turn up. Everyone that has the book must love it too.
