great songs for every taste,

Though I love Modern Talking so much, but I usually try to put my emotions aside when evaluating their albums. Since thier return and the incredible huge success of their album 'Back for Good" in 1998, which made it one of the best selling albums in history (over 20 million copies sold), Modern Talking have slightly lost their unique magic touch in their abums since then. I never mean they're bad, but they're not as good as the unbelievable songs from 80s. 'Alone', 'Year of the Dragon, and 'America' have very wonderful songs, but on the other hand, they have some bad songs ( really not expected from Modern Talking). Starting to lose faith in another creation from Modern Talking, this new abum has done it. It brought the creation that even many famous singers have been looking for it in vain. Moving from different styles, from different lyrics, and from beats makes this album so unique in its quality. A european disco style such as in 'higher than heaven', 'gonna be strong', 'when the sky rained fire' and 'love to love you' adds the flavour of what the best european songs can be. Romantic songs such as 'don't make me blue (sooooo wonderful) , "you're not Liza" (soooooo sad)and "Blue eyed, colouered girl" can easily bring the tears to your eyes. They're not just songs. They can remind you of an old, lost or new love. An American disco style from 70s is also availabe in the song "Juliet". So far, the best disco songs I've ever heard in so many years. Alone, it's worth the price of the album. I'm not exaggerating at all if I can say I can't imagine a person who likes disco dancing without it. Wether you can dance or not, when you play it, you'll find yourself dancing. Though there's no rap in this album, but actually there's a faint rap back up which gives 'Summer to remember' a very good mixture with a pop style. This song is really wonderful. I can say it's the song of this summer. Songs like 'ready to victory' and 'ten seconds to countdown' are so good for the people who drive fast cars. The first one is produced to bew the official song for Formula 1 in Germeny. Now comes the most incredible song 'Mrs Robota' I've ever listened to. This song has a very interesting topic that no other songs deal with, which is love between a man and a female robot in the internet. (some might interpret it differently). With such a topic, wonderful lyrics and beautiful beat, it's simply the best song in this album according to my taste. No matter what I said, you won't know why I said it until you buy it and listen to its quality. Believe me, you won't waste your money for only a song or three as you always do for other singers. All the songs are so wonderful, and you'll find your hand not moving to forward any song.

AS allways there are many opinions about a new M.T. album. I guess first of all I have point out that MOdern Talkign is trying to stand out with it's name to be a creator of a new sound. Even tough Dieter has not borought anything new since the comeback as far as the sound is concerned, on the other had he is trying to make each to album sound a little Different. Why would one want to have every album the same sound. sounds boring to me. I have allready got used to the idea that Dieter Bohlen wil never write lyrics that will make much sense soI wil not even say anything about that. On the other hand I hear lots of new sounds for Modern Talking. I very much appreciate hearing something new. Even some of my friends who don'y care for Modern Talkig though that "JULIET" was a great new effort to refresh the M.T. sound. I myself think that that is the best song of the album and I gues the best ballad would be "IF I....". But For me this album has most possible chart topping hits hits. I 'm sorry to hear about the trouble with playback on car stereos. I myself own a 2001 Chevy silverado truck with factory installed cd player. It plays just fine. The only thing that i have noticed is that it takes 2 or 3 seconds longer before I hear the first track. But otherwise plays just like any other cd. I understand the ammount of Pirate coppies that are made in Russia. But I don't think that will stop them. This device will protect regular home cd or computer burners from copying. I love this album and I hope that we can have more cd remix releases, because this album deserves it.

Good album with one song everyone should hear,

"VICTORY" has one song I would like to draw your attention on, because it is remarkable: "Mrs. Robota".
No time is wasted, a few tacts and off you go. No tough techno beats, but delicate mid-tempo drive. No gimmick overload, but a sensitive, very sympathetic arrangement, reflecting the chilly silence of a lost night surfing the web for cyberpleasure. Please wait for the second verse and notice the piano toeing Thomas' voice. This is authentic MT-style. The bridge tightens the drive, and then you lift off to a catchy sing-along chorus, light as a feather. A "well done" for the lyrics this time. Songs like this made MT unparalleled mega-sellers. Though it appears to be simple, it's got excellent timing, wonderful melody, unique singing and that little extra that has inspired millions of listeners since MT started their career. But VICTORY has got more: "Juliet" is already legendary, and many songs on this album will be a surprise.

Another great comeback album,
By Fischer (China) - See all my reviews

Been listening to the album since April and it just feels better & better. It's pretty obvious that Dieter recycled some of the old melodies and the "Win The Race" (the title song of their last album America) style, but the reused melodies just fit so well the new songs that it makes you totally forgive his "laziness". Heavy and fast tracks like Ready For The Victory, Higher Than Heaven, When The Sky Rained Fire & Who Will Love You Like I Do are great songs with strong melodies and excellent arrangements. The percussion instruments sound sharper than those on America which gives the fans a fresh feel. Lyrics wise, WTSRF, Juliet & Mrs. Robota are definitely good standouts while the rest are just typical Bohlenish mediocre. Like the previous comeback albums, ballads are again a minus to the excellence of the entire album. You're Not Lisa, Don't Make Me Blue & If I are definitely stronger than their counterparts on Alone & Year of the Dragon, but still are no match to their 80's counterparts. And this Blue Eye Colorred Girl is just so plain that it's totally skippable. A nice surprise is Juliet, a lively and upbeat pop song that reminds people of the 70's disco. Dieter kept bringing me surprises with new elements since the album Year of the Dragon with No Face No Name No Number, Win the Race and now Juliet. I have a strong feel that Dieter will make another Juliet typed song on the coming album as he tended to repeat the new elements in every 2 consecutive albums of the last 3 albums: Latin on both YOTD & America, "WTR" and its 2 copycats on America & Victory. In short, a great album (probably their best comeback album) is what I would call it. After Alone & YOTD (especially by those ballads) which brought me big disappointments, America made me feel so much better and Victory definitely put me at the top of the world again. P.S. People, please do give the album enough listens before you could call yourself a Victory lover or hater.

Tarnished victory,
By
This review is from: Victory (Audio CD)
Modern Talking usually doesn't follow the road less traveled, but sticks with its safe, money-making style, which you will either love or hate. However, with Victory, they do detour a bit and almost get lost. There are plenty of strong, in-your-face tunes here; some work, like the two Formula 1 hymns (though, why did there have to be two?) and a few dance tracks, but others fall flat through excessiveness or plain lack of memorable melody. The ballads get a passing grade, but are still a step below from the nostalgic ones introduced in "America." Lyrically, it's standard Bohlen, with a few attempts at freshness (i.e. Julia). There's just enough here that's good to drown out the bad apples.Highpoints: Reaqdy for the Victory, 10 Seconds to Countdown, Julia, Mrs. Roboto, I'm Going to be Strong, excellent production values

too bad it's copy protected,

I just received the CD last night, and found out it is copy protected, which didn't play in either the car's CD changer nor my portable CD player.. This album won't be playback normally in the computer CDROM. the CD has a build in player program to let you play back, but if you are running on something other then windows (like me) then you are out of luck. After a lot of effort I finally can enjoy the music. Overall it is a very good album, much better then last one. and the mastering is also very good. My personal favorite is #7 When The Sky Rained Fire. I would give it 5 stars if not for the copy protection. The record company is punishing us who lawfully own the music CD. I would really like to obtain a version of the CD without the copy protection

I would say this is the worst album that MT released in their 12 albums series. I have all of their albums and this one was the worst album. No good melody, there are only 2 good songs in this album. Higher than Heaven & Ready for victory. all rest is boring and not entertaining. I only bought this album cause I'm a MT fan since childhood. I like Thomas's voice in the old albums better. He sounded much better, but he still sings good. Skip this album and buy the last one "UNIVERSE" instead. here's my opinion about their albums:
The 1st Album: VERY GOOD Let's Talk About Love: VERY GOOD READY FOR ROMANCE: BEST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE: VERY GOOD ROMANTIC WARRIORS: GOOD IN THE GARDEN OF VENUS: O.K. BACK FOR GOOD: NOT BAD ALONE: GOOD YEAR OF THE DRAGON: O.K. AMERICA: O.K. VICTORY: BAD!!! WORST!!! UNIVERSE: GOOD (I LIKED IT)

Best album by pop legends,
By Fantozzi (Dallas, Texas United States) - See all my reviews

Modern Talking is the outstanding duo. They have some fantastic ability to create GREAT mood, you'll definitely get stuck to their catchy tunes. I write this review after MT was disbanded in 2003 and my opinion is that VICTORY is the best album they recorded during 19 years of history. It's just a concentration of hits, each song seems to be better than previous one. Well, of course, snobs can easily find so-called weak places in MT - their lyrics or simplicity of music or whatever. If you're such a guy, get away and find anything else, like Deep Purple or some other oldie-goldie stuff, don't mess with people willing to make their mood fine. If you're not, hit 'Buy It' button and be happy. Just let yourself like it and you won't be upset.

Modern Talking is just such a fun group! I don't have to think hard to understand the meaning of their songs, and none of them drag you down while you listen to them! I haphazardly found out about them through the World Music Awards in 1999, when they won best selling German Artist for that year, and I have been hooked ever since! There simply is NOTHIN in the United States to compare to Modern Talking! I do LOVE certain songs on this cd!SUMMER IN DECEMBER: One that I haven't seen mentioned yet, this song is very sweet and breezy feeling-the music in the background is very french sounding, like a song you might hear in France, just a perfect amount of new and old sounds in this midtempo song... WHEN THE SKY RAINED FIRE: This song is a great example of MT expanding and growing as artists..this song is very "new" sounding while still being distictly MT. A great cut off this album, and made me love MT even more! JULIET: Great dance single-kind of "gay disco" sounding (sorry, this is the only thing that came to mind) and very fun! what else??? Of course, the singles released were good, but the content of the album is even better! You probably would agree w/ me if you liked the "Alone" album, as well as all of MT's older stuff! Another artist that I also love (and saw on the awards show too) would be Tarkan (from Turkey) also check him out, he is fab!

Pacey and full of Energy,
By MR KIET LAP THAI (Melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews

Evolving and adapting with the times, on first listen, this album is definitely more upbeat and full of energy. This is highly evident in the title of the CD with "Victory" which is also their first track. This song and "10 Seconds to Countdown" have a racey formula 1 feel with some awesome F1 engine sound FX. Some would consider that Modern Talking have strayed from their roots and traditional 80s sound, however, I have grown to like this new pulse and blend of differing styles they are showing the world within the one album. Take "Juliet", "Mrs. Robota" and "Higher than Heaven" as examples. "Juliet" is definitely a new electronic style with nice voical effects whilst "Mrs. Robota" could be enjoyed purely for it's blend of melodious tunes and an array of new digital sounds. Finally, "Higher than Heaven" has very strong traditional 80s Modern Talking sounds with a faster beat and great chorus. That is not to say Modern Talking have not mixed it up with some more slower ballads. "If I...", "Don't make me Blue", "Blue eyed coloured girl" and a surprising "Love to love you" (the only track on this album written by Thomas) will please those who want to listen to something more romantic and sentimental. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this album and although different to their original style, the various mix should appeal to a wider audience as well as keeping their existing legion of fans happy to have them back for yet another solid album release. Can't wait to hear their next one! |
